Yes, a faraday cage does work. But note that modern wifi uses high frequencies, which means small waves. That means your faraday cage probably needs a meshing finer than 1mm to be trult effective.

5Ghz has a wavelength of 60mm. You need to block 1/4 waves, so the biggest gap needs to be lass than 15mm.

6 GHz is around 50mm iirc
