I have trouble entering the series simply because I don’t trust Japanese creators enough to address the question of whether the people that stole magic from the world are really the good guys when their representative is a hot twink who does nothing about bullying between his students.

The ethical implications of the witches keeping magic to themselves is addressed more and more as we see what keeping it locked away from the general populace means, including their hypocrisy in using forbidden magic to make people forget things. It has become quite central to Coco’s motivations. The witches are not shown to be the paramount of good, including Qifrey.
