Why is a post about a CAD program being downvoted so much?

Probably because it’s not a self hosted app, and it also appears to be almost entirely vibe coded. When asked about the former, OP also claimed they didn’t read or care about the community rules, though it does appear they’ve since added the ai tag.

Oh yeah… yeah, it doesn’t seem like it’s client/server or anything. It’s just a CAD program?
I dunno if it fits the “vibe coded” label though, as it appears to work well. I tend to apply that to projects where the devs clearly have no idea what they’re doing (and end up with something really bloated and janky, yet hyped a ton).

To quote from another thread about this program:

If a program written almost entirely by Claude under somebody who has not previously demonstrated any actual competency in this domain isn’t vibe coding, I really don’t know what is.

It may be that he/they have significant competency in this domain, just not publically or under this name/pseudonym.
I’ve personally made contributions under pseudonyms just to avoid employer paperwork/approvals, for projects that I’d rather not have my real name attached to, and for sharing in potentially hostile communities.
I’ve also developed software internal to companies that has never been released publicly.
In short … he doesn’t need to prove his prior credentials to you, me, or anyone. He may have some, he may not.
We can legitimately critique what he/they have done in this project all we like though.

Yeah, in that case it’s sus.
Does it actually work, though?
Where did he say this? He said he didn’t read the rules. Also, when I explained the rules (tho in error), where to find them, and decode them, instead of just piling on like everyone else, when I came back, OP had added the tag. That doesn’t seem like he didn’t ‘care about the community rules’. OP doesn’t seem to be fluent in English, and stated such. Yes, the rules are posted and are there for proper formatting of threads. So imagine yourself visiting a selfhosting site that’s written in Mandarin. ffs!

Elsewhere in this thread, I can’t seem to get the link on my phone:
They admitted that they chose not to read the community rules and appear to have assumed that they were not allowed to post about AI projects, yet chose to post anyway.
Also, translation tools are widely available on the Internet to the extent that they’re built into most browsers at this point. While they’re obviously not as good as actually being fluent, they work fine for getting the point across. I’ve used them to read non-English sites with success, even if I maybe missed some of the subtleties of the original text.
It would be far less frustrating if they had at least attempted to read the rules and made a mistake in trying to follow them.
All I’m advocating here is a little common courtesy, you know? Rule 1 if we’re going to talk about rules. Selfhosters are always talking about how we need more people to sever the umbilical cord of Big Data and get into selfhosting, then act like a bunch of elitist snobs. It really is the black eye in the self hosting community.
