Absolutely correct. I was referring to videos/films that I’m watching that are hosted by plex. Apologies if I didn’t make that clear. The videos that it hosts for me do not have adverts.

Thanks for the very detailed advice. Definately some interesting things to follow up on. I got the plex pass when I bought the shield but never got it to connect remotely, but due to them putting ads in their films, I’m now thinking to switch to something else.

Great, I’ll repost, thanks. What’s a mesh network btw?

Emby sounds interesting, thanks.

Thanks. I couldn’t get plex to run from ‘off site’, it was probably something that I wasn’t doing properly.
I’m not sure if it was the vpn or not, but it never connected even though I set the tunnelling like it said.

Never heard of that special. Thanks for the correction though.

I’m just having a pick at the fashion of overly botoxed lips.

Good point. Let’s make every new passer drive an old banger for a year - I’m absolutely fed up of monkey-lipped young girls forcing me to my side of the road because they can’t fucking negotiate the width of their fucking tractors!
Sorry for the rant, but I drive a classic - and it fucking riles me - every day ! I used to enjoy driving - now it’s a daily nightmare.
- Comment on Never start vaping, says 12-year-old girl with lung damage 1 year ago:
I’m not sure why you’re getting downvoted, I’ve been vaping since I quit the fags 10 years ago - just switched addictions! But, I do buy from what (I think) is a reputable seller - he makes it himself and puts the ingredients on the label. I’m just not quite ready to quit yet.
I’m sure some of the shit kids buy is un-regulated and it needs tighter control. It’s like weed - gonna fuck up your brain eventually - but it brings in tax I guess - so, who cares?
- Comment on Why shouldn’t I just give up on Lemmy? 1 year ago:
Absolutely no issues at all on lemm.ee from the day reddit killed 3rd party apps - using boost now.

Yeah, gotta admit to jumping back onto it a few times - purely because of the wealth of information. But I do have to agree with you that the quality of chat seems to be declining.
Lemmy is definately a better quality place to be, but if people don’t post - only to a fraction of communities, it’s in danger of becoming too focused on just a few topics.
What I don’t understand is: some niche communities started getting interest, then the interest waned - did people leave, did they go back to reddit (and why after leaving) or did they find a better place to go (if so where)?
I’m sticking with lemmy for now - with fingers crossed!

Handy News Reader (F-droid).

If you’re not getting a full text feed for articles try changing your feed app (assuming android). I’m using handy News reader (flymm fork on F-droid). It retrives the full article text for all my feeds.

I’m guessing that would be tagging people then rather than topics of interest? Probably not missing much if that’s the case.

I wasn’t even aware lemmy had tags. Never used it on pc.

Indeed, growing pains - and we’re all getting to make sense of it all. I can only speak for myself, but at times I find this change confusing. Thanks.

A very insightful explanation of something that I think sorely needed addressing. Thank you for doing this.
