I mean, Lemmy is already fairly left. ML is tankie from what I understand, so that would not be further left but upward, right? I hope you didn’t get the impression I’m a fan of prison slave labor and western imperialism. Many things can be and are bad at once

I mean really you’re bending upward to authoritarian on the compass

Why not having them locked up and prosecuted? All those rabid MAGAs calling for death and destruction are deranged, I think we agree. Who gets to decide when it’s appropriate to assassinate politicians in our democracy?

- Comment on Apple finally adds support for RCS in latest iOS 18 beta | TechCrunch 4 months ago:
That’s how I react to those bubbles. It means any image I send is going to be compressed to shit and be utterly unrecognizable. Messages will sent out of order or not at all. Group chats are completely fucked.
I’m sure Apple shares a lot of the blame, but holy shit how is this not solved in 2024. I shouldn’t have to resort to spam filled shitware from Meta to get remotely modern messaging cross platform
Hope rcs pans out and soon

I highly doubt you’re the same person that you were at 21! Well, maybe you are, but I’m not sure that’s universal.
Even as someone approaching 30 I look back and nearly don’t recognize the person I used to be. Sure I have the continuity and experience, but the way I act and think has changed dramatically, and for the better.
Time brings wisdom and I’d guess you’ve got more wisdom than I

except the current user base, that doesn’t care about FOSS as you or I do, will continue using the original app which will net them a non-insignificant amount of ad revenue, which is their entire purpose for existing. Makes sense to me

Yeah exactly. And I mount the volume to the local directory so they try to sync both ways. It’s a real mess. The solution is currently to: not fuck up the file name casing in the first place. lol

Which part? I’d love to switch if there’s no reformatting, and if your exception is with the first part, I’d ask for some evidence. All of my mac machines arrived brand new, case insensitive. Granted that’s only 3 so far, but it’s a smattering from 2019 onward. All the literature online points to this being the default too

Yep typo thanks

I have issues with Docker a lot. Example: Rename a file from “File.js” to “file.ts” in a dependency and it’s like something caches the old name so even when I redownload or install that dep it tries the old name and fails to find the file. Might just be me and my tomfoolery
- Comment on D or d come on 1 year ago:
Defaults to insensitive and if you want to change it you have to reformat 🥲

Same as calculators. So what! Kids don’t have to waste mental cycles with your tedious and borderline sadistic amounts of homework. Go fly a kite.
