Yeah I agree, I didn’t know that was an option but it’s a fine compromise. I don’t usually like “default enabled”, opt-outs, though when Facebook or Microsoft do it they’re not transparent like this. Usually the vast majority of software users never even review the default settings but Lemmy might be different due to its user base

Welcome everyone! .zip has an amazing admin team and excellent monthly updates. I landed here pretty fast after leaving R and have never felt any reason to set up an account anywhere else. If you like it after a few months, you should donate - I imagine a few hundred more active users might be some increase to resource needs.

I had the same reaction. .zip had some votes on this in the past and didn’t defed from HB at that time so I guess this is a later compromise? My opinion is that a “disable to unblock” option is much closer to defederation than not. .ee wasn’t defederated from you either, right?

I was surprised to see that too, as i don’t remember that from our previous defed discussions. Maybe I missed it. Since they’re just default, must not have been implemented when out accounts were created

Dangers is seriously underappreciated by romance enjoyers dissuaded by the premise, but its one of the best coming of age stories I’ve seen. I’m watching and liking Blue Box and Solo Leveling right now.

This sounds great. If you end up writing something for the other commenter using a Linux server and the Messenger bridge I would love to hear if there were any pitfalls to avoid!
