If you have young children, there’s a higher chance they’ll develop asthma. For that reason, I’m planning on trying to move to electric over the next couple of years.
- Comment on Bodycam video shows DA calling cop an “a**hole” after being pulled over for speeding 6 months ago:
It’s really not even impacting anyone inside of the US. All cops are assholes.

He’s blatantly stated as much before. He wants Twitter to be the everything app, the WeChat of the US

Good luck getting a lot of people with a absolute shit ton of spare bandwidth
- Comment on ByteDance prefers TikTok shutdown in US if legal options fail, sources say 6 months ago:
Look at any security analysis done on it and you’ll see the insane amount of information it collects from every single user is absolutely stunning. They definitely use their influence and knowledge of individuals to drive opinion of those who use their platform.
- Comment on ByteDance prefers TikTok shutdown in US if legal options fail, sources say 6 months ago:
Because China is trying to influence the US and they need to be in the US market for that

I’m just being a little pedantic here, but Canada is only about 100k miles or so bigger than the US and much more of Canada is unlivable unless you count Texas as being unlivable, because I do.
There’s also about 10x as many Americans as Canadians.

Oh nice, much more southern Oklahoma than southwestern Oklahoma for sure, but I’ve been there a few times

What city was this in? I grew up in southwest Oklahoma and a lot of it looked like this
- Comment on Leaked SpaceX documents show company forbids employees to sell stock if it deems they've misbehaved 8 months ago:
SpaceX isn’t public, this is an internal stock system used for employee rewards. Like bonuses, but kinda more arbitrary and more gambly
- Comment on Teslas Can Be Stolen by Hijacking WiFi at Charging Stations, Researchers Find 8 months ago:
You can buy a WiFi module and just plug it in as HAT, but I still think it’s stupid to even mention when you can use pretty much anything with WiFi that you control. You could probably do the same thing with a rooted Android phone if you wanted.

She’s not suing him, she’s threatening to by sending a cease and desist. Anyone can send a C&D to anyone for any reason, they don’t actually do anything until action is put behind them.
This is actually an important distinction, because if she does sue him it’ll be really interesting to see the actual legal reason behind it.

I mean, Fox News anchors had entire segments about her potentially endorsing Biden if the chiefs win and how she should “stay out of politics”, as if they don’t impact everyone.
- Comment on Skiff, the private email provider has been acquired by Notion. It is set to shut down its services after 6 months. 9 months ago:
The command line mail is used for checking local system mail that crontab outputs to by default, so it seems reasonable that results could get muddled. Luckily I know how to use a search engine so that’s unlikely.

I seriously doubt people looking for cron are going to be confused by a calendar app.
Help guys, every time I go to look up the mail command, the USPS shows up.

They renamed it Notion calendar, but Cron had pretty solid SEO. I much preferred its old name and theme.

Cron. They didn’t shut it down though, they just suddenly transitioned it. I’d just started using Cron when they did it and it was very unexpected for me.

- Comment on Vivaldi explains why they will not embed LLM functionality in their browser 9 months ago:
Arc has an LLM that lets you replace your search functionality with search or ask, where if you type a question it tries to answer it based on the content on the page. Kinda close to what you’re talking about.
Arc is genuinely trying to use LLMs in their browser in interesting ways.
- Comment on Spotify is creating fake music to save on royalties 9 months ago:
Well, my equally valid anecdote, my AI DJ plays artists I play a lot and know and like. It’s almost never somebody new, and if it is I usually like them and find out they have an actual history.
As somebody who’s been into the AI space for a while now, I know AI music does exist, but at this point anything past 30 seconds sounds God awful. You’d know if it was AI, trust me.

It’s using an LLM in the background, don’t look too hard into it.

It is, it’s using a llama model in the API. If you watch the network tab you can see the calls it makes and modify them yourself, they’re simple get requests. It’s kinda fun to pick random words and see what the LLM comes up with.
