- Comment on Apple Vision Pro review: magic, until it’s not 9 months ago:
How the fuck this headset weighs over 600 grams? The Quest 2, which is pretty much a standalone Android phone weighs 500g WITH a battery in the headset. It is already a very heavy headset to be used without a strap that balances the load

Is that Supla?

Every time I hear about banks allowing overdraws, it's from Americans. If true, then it's yet another thing that America do to fuck it's citizens and that the rest of the world has already figured it out.

"More reasons to Avoid the Raspberry Pi"
I didn't know we even had reasons to avoid it
- Comment on Google paid Samsung $8 billion to be the default search engine, app store and voice assistant 1 year ago:
Modes & Routines is literally Bixby Routines renamed to remove the Bixby branding (and to avoid confusion with people thinking it's part of the voice assistant). Absolutely nothing was removed from this change other than the Bixby name.
Judging by the fact that you can set multiple if conditions (and it explicitly says "when all conditions below are met") straight from the main view of the routine, it means you haven't even tried creating a routine at all.
- Comment on Facebook and Instagram launch an ad-free subscription model in GDPR countries 1 year ago:
Hold your horses, they only said "ad free", "tracking free" is beyond the scope, making this essentially a double dip.
- Comment on Google Fiber's 20Gbps Internet to Arrive by Year's End for Select Residential Users 1 year ago:
why don’t we focus on getting more people to the very comfortable speed of 70Mbps before we give those that already have a good connection a better one.
Those things are not mutually exclusive and generally not even the same effort

That's exactly what the YouTube execs are saying
- Comment on Samsung joins Google in RCS shaming Apple 1 year ago:
RCS is only interoperable with apps and carriers that adopt the Jibe protocol, so not much has changed.
- Comment on Samsung joins Google in RCS shaming Apple 1 year ago:
The only way something replaces WhatsApp is if WhatsApp stops existing.
Besides, RCS is not in any shape or form ready to the general public, considering all the blatant inconsistencies and instabilities, let alone replace one of the most used, tried and tested messaging platforms out there.
- Comment on Samsung joins Google in RCS shaming Apple 1 year ago:
That pretty much only affected the small percentage of American users that used Signal for the SMS integration. For everyone else it literally made no difference whatsoever.

Affinity Photo is $60 once and you own it forever, with free updates. It's pretty much the only actually good Photoshop replacement.

It wasn't to avoid epic, it's because there's no crack for the game yet and the only way to pirate it is to play on a switch emulator.
- Comment on All your favorite Cyberpunk 2077 mods are disabled in Phantom Liberty, CDPR says 1 year ago:
I think they're aiming for people being split between updating the game and not having their mods working, or not updating the game and playing their mods.
It's just click and rage bait, this whole thing has been worded to seem like CDPR is disallowing mods forever and people are upset with it.
- Comment on Telegram starts to look like a super app, echoing WeChat 1 year ago:
But isn't that the whole point of a messaging service? Connect to something else that's not local and have your messages exchanged?
- Comment on How to Actually Clean Install Windows 11 1 year ago:
Do not recommend Tiny10/11. They are modified Windows ISOs and we have no way of knowing what actually was modified and if there's anything malicious under the hood.
Besides it also completely breaks a bunch of actually useful features.
- Comment on Some *real* benchmarks on Bun (compared with Node) -- It only wins *sometimes* 1 year ago:
I don't understand it either.
I've only had issues with npm speeds when the projects were stored in a HDD, and that's not node's fault.
- Comment on Apple 15 relegated to USB 2.0 unless you buy the Pro 1 year ago:
This isn’t that different than the Galaxy note 20 not having ultra wide band but the Ultra version does.
Are we considering that UWB is as prominent as USB and you'll be using it almost daily with a multitude of devices?

- Comment on Apple’s new USB-C iPhone cables and dongles are predictably expensive 1 year ago:
It isn't made by Apple, therefore it must be bad and probably will break your phone /s
There's really nothing wrong with it, it's just that Apple knows they can charge anything for the silliest things and a wave of mindless consumers will buy without thinking
- Comment on Whatsapp has begun working on support for third party chats (Telegram/Signal) 1 year ago:
This will probably work like Matrix already does, you're not linking anything to a service. They're just demanding that every messaging app use the same protocol (and encryption) instead of different ones.
- Comment on Whatsapp has begun working on support for third party chats (Telegram/Signal) 1 year ago:
Up to a month ago, people were irritated and would constantly complain about having to use "too many chat apps" to talk with people. The EU then demands messaging apps to be interoperable, now people are irritated and will constantly complain that they do not want to send messages to X service or participate in Y service group chats
It's comical
- Comment on Open source community figures out problems with performance in Starfield 1 year ago:
That's the engine in which Creation Engine was based on, so what? Saying that name won't somehow invalidate everything that was developed using the two engines or accomplish anything really. By your logic, we should call Source 2 engine the Quake engine
- Comment on Open source community figures out problems with performance in Starfield 1 year ago:
Gamers will never be mature or have realistic expectations. They cannot fathom that people are enjoying a thing they don't like, and they're very vocal about it, it's petty, really.
I try to move myself off of these discussions but there's always one comment that drags me down the well because it's so blatantly untrue, but it's miserable. Lemmy, kbin and Reddit are overly negative places where it seems the goal is to get everyone mad with terrible takes.
People need to remember that opinions aren't factsz and learn to shut the fuck up and let people enjoy things.
- Comment on Open source community figures out problems with performance in Starfield 1 year ago:
I've had not a single crash so far and most of my frame dipping issues (from 60 to 40) were solved by lowering the shadows to medium. The only bugs I had were ships spawning in other ships so they spaz out, but that's very rare. On the other hand, Baldurs Gate 3 would constantly drop to 10 FPS and I had severe bugs that locked me out of entire questlines.
But I guess I'm not allowed to enjoy games and have fun because gamebryo = bad
