- Comment on OVIC finds department responsible for breaches of privacy through use of ChatGPT 1 month ago:
Some highlights from the report after briefly skimming through it.
- CPW1 indicated that they used ChatGPT regularly for around one month prior to the PA Report incident. CPW1 claimed that they used ChatGPT to save time and to present work more professionally.
- DFFH also interviewed staff in CPW1’s team. It was indicated that CPW1’s use of ChatGPT had been well known within the team for a period of around 3 – 4 months and possibly longer, and that they had demonstrated to other team members how it could be used. There were no admissions that other members of the team had used ChatGPT.
- Ultimately, DFFH found there were 100 cases with indicators that ChatGPT may have been used to draft child protection documents. The types of documents involved court reports, case notes, case plans and risk assessments…
- … DFFH identified that nearly 900 employees had accessed the ChatGPT website within this period. This represents almost 13 per cent of DFFH’s workforce of around 7,000 employees.

Incredible! Can’t believe how long it’s been functioning for and how many obstacles it’s overcome. Truly a testament of human engineering

- Comment on Do any of you have that one service that just breaks constantly? I'd love to love Nextcloud, but it sure makes that difficult at times 10 months ago:
I use docker and I get issues sometimes. I will admit though, when I used the snap a few years back I had no issues whatsoever.

I had TOTP die for one user on my Nextcloud. I tried to disable it, but it “didn’t exist”. I tried to enable it, but it was already enabled. It would come up when I used
occ twofactorauth:state user
. I ended up fixing it by (force) disabling the app and re-enabling it. It didn’t break any other user’s TOTP and it fixed problem-user’s TOTP. No idea what went wrong, but I get these random issues with Nextcloud sometimes. The plus side to this is I’ve learnt how to use Mariadb and I’ve gotten better at debugging things.

I have a very modest 7 docker containers on a vm on my gaming rig and I have a raspberry pi for my DNS server. Honestly my setup is quite scuffed (in comparison to yours), but it does what I need it to do

I use Joplin mainly, but I’ve been trying QOwnNotes and Logseq out lately. All of them are pretty good imo

- Comment on Users of PiHole/AdGuard/Blocky, what blocklists are you using? 1 year ago:
I use the following lists:
spoiler
- StevenBlack hosts - WindowsSpyBlocker - WindowsSpyBlocker - ipv6 - Easyprivacy - Easylist - adaway - firstparty-trackers - d3host - w3kbl - Facebook - non regex - Peter Lowe Hosts
I also ensure that I have ublock origin on everything I can put it on. I’m sure the default lists are fine for pihole (I just like tinkering with things), but I recommend firebog.net for finding more lists if you so desire

- Comment on It seems Gen Z is just fine with parents knowing where they are all the time 1 year ago:
Conversely, the sampling done in the GenZ survey was by the tracking company (who you can probably wager have a bias towards anti-privacy…)
- Comment on It seems Gen Z is just fine with parents knowing where they are all the time 1 year ago:
Article reads as propaganda. No way that zoomers are into this. This just sounds like justification for abusive parents to spy on their children. As a GenZ, I don’t recall having a single friend with this kind of arrangement with their parents, but then again I mostly hung around the more questionable crowd where you actually needed privacy. Would really hope we stop bickering among generations and actually fight for privacy together
