When did cosplaying for WBD become a thing? In my day 🧓🏽, Scholastic would just set up a stall in the library and we’d redeem our £1 book token. I worked in kidswear up to 2016 and every year it was parents panicking last minute about their kids’ costumes. It became more about the cosplay than reading.

The only issue I have with mastodon is the federation gets a bit janky (so does Lemmy tbh) but it’s more noticeable on mastodon. My main account is on autistics.life, which is federated with most instances except threads and the maga types, but very often I can’t see images on mastodon.social posts via my main account. In fact I can’t even see a lot of my older mastodon.social posts via my main account without viewing the post via my alt account and then account switching.
I’ve seen people say to avoid using mastodon.social as your main account.

All kids in London get free bus travel and also free tube until I think age 10. I’m surprised other cities aren’t already doing it. Also if governments didn’t keep selling off council homes, people wouldn’t spend years stuck in temporary accommodation.

Art takes time, money and creativity to make. Of course that’s going to be more expensive than downloading something someone else made and printing it out. Accounting for the time and costs that go into making art isn’t a high markup, it’s being paid for your labour.

I couldn’t even access my home instance (thelemmy.club) after a server upgrade without changing my DNS. I thought it had shut down until I saw it worked on a VPN. ISPs do weird stuff like that. Try changing your DNS. Archive.org works fine for me, I’m using cloudflare DNS.

I don’t see why they should though. A person destroying a bird’s nest will be charged with a crime, but you can get your cat to do it with zero consequences. Cats don’t need to roam, as anyone with a house cat will tell you. Catios are also a thing that gives cats outside access without being a menace to wildlife and a nuisance to neighbours.

I’m trying to think of other irresponsible actions from other types of pet owners, but I can’t think of any.
Cats kill wildlife and leave their mess in other people’s gardens. Their owners should also be held responsible for any damage their can does and made to keep their pet on their own property.

It’s really not that hard. I gave my ex my Mastodon url and he signed up so he could follow me. He didn’t even know what Mastodon or the Fediverse is.
It only gets complicated when federation gets janky, eg on my Mastodon.social account I can see so many more posts that I can on my main instance. In fact, I sometimes can’t even see some of my own .social posts unless I login via that account on tusky, then open as my main account. Even though the instances are federated. I have the same issue here with this account and my alt feddit.uk account. I can see comments/communities on one instance that I can’t see on another.

Not only that, they cycle on the pavement, they cycle on cycle lanes in the wrong freaking direction and then have the nerve to click their tongues at me as though I’m in the wrong. They’re a scourge. They’re the reason I feel safer on the road than the cycle lane. My ex saw a woman get hit by one as she was crossing at a green man. She had two little girls with her, it could have been even worse.
I’d rather the cops spent a bit of time dealing with this than arresting pensioners for holding a placard.
