- Comment on A 2GB Raspberry Pi 4 now costs 50% more than it did at launch - OMG! Ubuntu 1 day ago:
The most economical option for small computing is no longer a raspberry pi. It hasn’t been for a while. Now it is an mini PC. You can get x86 performance for the same price.
The raspberry pi still serves a purpose with it’s GPIO pins. If you need to make something physical then you may still find it useful. Otherwise, look elsewhere.
- Comment on Valve expect component prices to continue getting worse 2 months ago:
Despite almost half of all data centers being cancelled or delayed hardware prices still go up. I suspect it’s no longer about supply contraints. The hardware corporations are colluding and price fixing to maintain their margins despite the lack of demand from data centers.
The same companies were caught doing the same thing over 20 years ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DRAM_industry_price_fixing
This time we do not have a government willing to go after these companies so the price increases will continue.
