It is possible to do scientific testing without spreading a virus outside of the carefully controlled laboratory environment.
- Comment on Why bag the hydrant? 7 months ago:
Just FYI, the striped pole attached to the hydrant is so it can be found under snow.
- Comment on World’s population to fall for first time since the Black Death 7 months ago:
Good. Now if only we could get the wealthy and powerful to switch to a form of economy which prioritizes stability over infinite growth.
- Comment on [deleted] 8 months ago:
The magazine (Kbin for community) I moderate was polled on what rules they wanted a couple months back. They wanted them to be persnickety. More than I do, so I only bother with the persnickety rules if somebody reports content.

Are they pretending the JROTC doesn't exist? The US military absolutely targets minors under the age of seventeen for recruitment.
- Comment on No tip 8 months ago:
It would be basically impossible to exist in modern society if that were true.
- Comment on Cheaters are just wannabe singles. 8 months ago:
Cheaters tend to be controlling in their relationships. They crave that control, so they don't actually want to be single. They just want all of the power in the relationship.
- Comment on Pooping in the handicap stall in a public bathroom is like taking the corner office in your workplace 8 months ago:
I actually dislike the handicapped stalls because the toilets are higher. I get that it helps wheelchair users transfer, so I'm glad they exist, but some of them are so high my feet barely touch the ground and that's just awkward.
- Comment on [deleted] 8 months ago:
It really depends on the infection. Some of them require that the toenail be removed in order to treat the infection. And either case, antifungals are the best treatment, not these old wives' tales other people are giving you.

It makes more sense when you can read Japanese. It is far easier to read Japanese with their multiple writing systems mixed together than to read it all in just hiragana (their native phonetic writing system). Also much faster.

It's the only thing that can help.
- Comment on How can a ugly and short guy compensate for his looks? 8 months ago:
I didn't even notice that my now-husband is considered short when we started dating until someone else mentioned it. I was just like, "Oh, I hadn't thought about it." Because why would I? We got on great.

Going with "your experience doesn't count because you're a little different" is not the winning argument you might want it to be.

You have completely missed the point of attics not being always being very accessible in order to argue for no good reason
-
Yes, I would. The respirator type mask which you require and that environment is very stuffy and tough on someone like me who has a lung condition.
-
It being tiny makes it more inaccessible than the need for a mask does. The opening into the attic is narrow. I can fit through it, but most Americans would not be able to. Once up there, you have to crawl. I have medical condition affecting my muscles which makes it exceedingly difficult to crawl.
Point is, once again, that not all attics are accessible. This isn't a discussion about masks.

Requires a different type of mask, but yes, I have many masks of different types.

Most dogs don't bark that much, but some certainly do.

And if the police pursue it. I know. Kind of a lose lose situation.
- Comment on Are there any games like Diablo but not Diablo because Diablo? 9 months ago:
Absolutely. All of the expansions are good, but especially the ones that add extra masteries (classes).

As a gamer, I can only wonder what Path of Exile has to do with this. What does PoE stand for here?
- Comment on Wi-Fi jamming to knock out cameras suspected in nine Minnesota burglaries -- smart security systems vulnerable as tech becomes cheaper and easier to acquire 9 months ago:
Not all attics are that accessible. Mine is basically an above-house crawlspace full of insulation such that you need a mask.

They serve different purposes.
Dogs are a deterrent. Cameras are (in most residential use cases) for catching someone after the fact.

- Comment on how did "step" porn become so popular when we did such a good job keeping scat and insest porn out of the mainstream for so long 9 months ago:
My guess is that it appeals to a sizable minority of people while at the same time not turning off the majority of people because they know it's just actors who aren't truly related.
I prefer my porn not to have any story to it at all, but that doesn't stop me from watching the stuff which hamfists a story into it. I just skip to what I want to see.
- Comment on Why does it seem that people dislike recordings of their voice more than photos of themselves? 9 months ago:
That's a very interesting question. I wonder if there were any articles written about the subject at the time.
- Comment on Why does it seem that people dislike recordings of their voice more than photos of themselves? 9 months ago:
I've got a very mild visual processing disorder. Sometimes I'll look at a picture of something and just be like "wtf is that" for a solid minute or two before I see the obvious object/scene that it is.

- Comment on When people talk about returning the cart after shopping, does that include putting it in a corral, or do you have to take it all the way to the front of the store to be a good person? 9 months ago:
They mean the corral. That's why the stores have the corrals spread out in the parking lot and hire people whose job is partly to bring the carts in.
