OP specifically asked about the sloped distance:
Shouldn’t the slopped distance be considered instead of the height?

No, work done only cares about the start and the end. What happened in-between doesn’t matter.
In this case, the kinetic energy is 0 at the start and end, but the potential energy of the mass increased by mgh. 5 kg * 9.81 m/s^2^ * 2 m = 98.1 J (1 J = 1 N•m).

10x probe with 2v per division setting only showing 9.81V
The scope is clipping (limiting the voltage to protect the internal ADC). Notice CH1 in the bottom left is red. You can fix this by increasing the voltage scale
The OpenHantek6022BE manual describes the limits of each voltage scale setting

There are plenty of ways to sandbox it. Treat it as an employee, i.e. give it its own user account, use cgroups, etc. Unfortunately, the defaults aren’t very secure. And I’m sure most users will just stick with the defaults

Pretty sure this will only affect 3D printing businesses. It will be very hard to enforce for individuals
