- Comment on Windows 10 reaches 70% market share as Windows 11 keeps declining 6 months ago:
I litteratur haven't had ANY of those problems running Windows 10 or 11 FWIW, not have any of my friends or relatives.
I'm not anti-Linux or anything though, have used it for 26 years now, but only briefly on the desktop.

"climate change and other left wing topics"... I know that's basically how it works in some countries, but it's insane to consider certain scientific facts left wing, and we really shouldn't support such statements.
- Comment on Sometimes when I say danke (thanks or thank you) some of my friends will say (and the spelling is wrong but it's as close as I can get) they will say danata or maybe it's dinata. 8 months ago:
Swedish too. I've always assumed the implicit meaning is roughly "there is [no reason] to thank me".
- Comment on Why does Microsoft want me to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11? 8 months ago:
They obviously want their newest/flagship OS to be secure, or people wouldn't want to use it, and they'd be stuck supporting people on 10+ year old OS:es instead.

Money doesn't solve everything. The probably have way more issues with stalkers and death threats than any of us do, for example. Even with hired security that can't feel very good.

This again? It's utter bullcrap I'm afraid.
- Comment on On the end of Discovery 11 months ago:
Yep, that was beyond ridiculous IMO. Not sure how they felt it made enough sense to turn into a big season-long thing, affecting the entire future timeline of Star Trek.
Though I think Species 10-C (season 4) was an awesome episode that is rather underrated.

A telekinetic can move stuff with their thoughts. So they can count on the abacus with their thoughts.
- Comment on Why advertise on YouTube? 1 year ago:
Ads work way better than you think. Perhaps the most important thing they do is to make you aware the brand exists, and to keep it in mind when you're looking for a service/product. You're way more likely to buy something you've heard of, even if it's from ads.
- Comment on If you could play one game for the first time all over again, what would it be? 1 year ago:
If I were to experience it as I am today (and judge it versus games with modern graphics etc), I'd pick Ori and the Will of the Wisps. It quickly became one of my all-time favourite games, and I finished it three times in a year when I discovered it. Beautiful in so many ways.
Half-Life is probably the game that has had the biggest impact on me, though, so that would be my pick if I experienced it as I did around 1998.

The article points out that the kernel version used in a phone is basically frozen when development of the device starts. They're suggesting that at 2 years of support, the kernel will be EOL about when the phone is released.

- Comment on Star Trek executive producer wants more Strange New Worlds episodes, and I’m nervous 1 year ago:
I'm not sure how it's madness. An episode can be bad in itself and not contribute anything of value to the greater story arc, in which case I don't see why it's wrong to see it as bad.
- Comment on Star Trek executive producer wants more Strange New Worlds episodes, and I’m nervous 1 year ago:
TNG was great, and the best episodes are incredible, but most episodes were fairly mediocre. I feel SNW's average is higher, and it's probably in part for having LESS than half the number of episodes per season.
I think they'd be fine with 12, maybe even 14, but beyond that I don't they could keep it as great as it's been.

Most phones use customized versions of Android and decide you shouldn't have root access. It opens up security issues and makes it easier to bypass ads and DRM which they don't like.
You can get it on some phones, including Google's.
