Witnessing Lemmy grow in real time is the best way to say it’s natural growth. We had no clients, laggy servers, downtime and bare as bones communities.
It’ll take years to get a decent chunk of Reddit users.
- Comment on 23andMe tells victims it's their fault that their data was breached | TechCrunch 10 months ago:
That’s not 23 and me fault at all then. Basically boils down to password reuse. All i would say is they should have provided 2fa if they didn’t.
- Comment on How many of you browsing this community are system admins/hobbyist? 10 months ago:
Depends on the day which hat I wear. Sys Admin, security and whatever else the job entails.
- Comment on Single-use e-cigarettes contain batteries that last hundreds of cycles despite being discarded 10 months ago:
That’s absolutely flat out wrong and honestly concerning.
For a start nicotine addiction (vaping) has not been proven to have any long term health strain on the medical system. To say having a gambling problem is better is just crazy.
You realise the difference between nicotine addiction and gambling addiction right?
- Comment on HP raising Instant Ink subscription pricing significantly 11 months ago:
Nothing really. I just can’t make that when traveling. Unfortunately when out and about in the UK you either have Costa, Starbucks or Nero around the same price or McDonald’s and Greggs which is cheaper. It’s very hard to find any local coffee shops.
- Comment on HP raising Instant Ink subscription pricing significantly 11 months ago:
No. It’s like bitwarden. Everyone’s praising them to shill levels because they are generally that good. Brothers just run and run without nagging or insane prices. They do tend to be a little more expensive because they don’t lose money on the hardware like HP or cannon will.
- Comment on HP raising Instant Ink subscription pricing significantly 11 months ago:
Satisfying isn’t the word. We have to generally use HP for SAP purposes so unfortunately I have to buy HP for work. Guess what? Every fucking month a few clients need printer support. Just HP bullshit time and time again…
I have brothers, kyoceras and others that just work and work without any issues. But HPs are just nagging offline fucking pains in the ass.
- Comment on HP raising Instant Ink subscription pricing significantly 11 months ago:
$8.25 for a Starbucks? Man, it’s like £3.55-£4 here in UK.

How?
- Comment on YouTube will have fewer ad breaks on TV — but the ads are getting longer 11 months ago:
Smart tube is amazing.

Tbh paying a package deal isn’t actually the worst thing. I get netflix, sky sports, BT sports, movies, all channels, 1gb broadband and 1 unlimited data SIM. £100 pm.
Yes it’s expensive but it’s £55 for 1gb broadband anyway. They have a stranglehold over football/soccer that it’s hard to get away from. Yes you can pirate the stream but it’s not the same.
This has fuck all to do with YT but generally getting packages individually isn’t cheaper sometimes.
- Comment on Virgin Media 'fastest wi-fi' advert banned by watchdog 11 months ago:
Yep I’m way way off. Even so, I’m pretty sure EE, BT and others have claimed similar things in the past.
- Comment on Virgin Media 'fastest wi-fi' advert banned by watchdog 11 months ago:
Fair enough, you are paying for the 1gb with Open reach though. I’m way off the mark anyway since this is about WiFi.
Curious about the other provider? Last time I checked most of the other providers are very very limited in area coverage.

In every walk of life the best way to diffuse is separate into the mass. Dilution is key.
- Comment on Virgin Media 'fastest wi-fi' advert banned by watchdog 11 months ago:
Virgin are not wrong though. Unless you pay for a dedicated 1gb bearer you have zero chance of getting anything close to VM gigabit.
- Comment on Discord users are cancelling their Nitro after new mobile layout update 11 months ago:
The unlimited file size I can understand not allowing now. Userbase and file size is much bigger although storage prices are probably on par still.

Ohh yes absolutely. Disco is a privacy nightmare.

Shit ones.
- Comment on Why isn't a wired mouse connected through the keyboard? 11 months ago:
I guess they could if the keyboard had a usb port that wasn’t just power…

I swear Lemmy is against paying for anything. So many freeloaders in this world.
- Comment on HP TV ads claim its printers are 'made to be less hated' 11 months ago:
Hahaha. Now this explains why MSoft have started pushing hp smart app. Absolute scum bags them both. Wonder how much MSoft accepted to push that software out?

This sparked something magical OP.
- Comment on Programmer tries to explain binary search to the police 11 months ago:
Maybe I’m not understanding both arguments here but I’d like to understand. I’ve had to review footage of a vending machine being shaken to release drinks.
You have no before or after visual clue as to when the event took place. The only indication is when you physically see it happening. The same could be said for an assault. If nothing is changed in the before or after static still how can you pinpoint the incident?

I do agree that’s a fair point about mail.

Where do you get ads? Never ever seen a telegram ad.
How do you plan on organising without premium? Isn’t that server side?

And don’t sleep or close the lid with power connected. It won’t realise it’s on battery once it’s asleep. Hence battery drain.
- Comment on Google CEO Sundar Pichai Warns Android Users Not to Sideload Apps 11 months ago:
Google’s ADS as a whole are malicious. Try Google drivers or TeamViewer and the first sponsored links are malicious/adware. It’s absolutely shocking.
I added ublock origin into my clients GPO to protect myself from viruses. Msoft just as bad if not worse since we are all using their products to be protected from.
