Future harm is unavoidable. It’s that’s worse future harm is avoidable. It’s really not that hard of a concept.
Shit is already gonna be bad, but we can prevent it from becoming really bad.

Yeah it’s definitely not a real projection. If Antarctica looked like that (taken top down) then the rest of the continents would not be oriented like that.

While yes it has a bird sound ID, you can also use it to ID birds visually by giving your location and answering a few questions, after which it gives you a list of birds from the most probable to least.

Lol did the ice wall “theory” even exist before game of thrones?
- Comment on CFCs 7 months ago:
We definitely did something. It just would have been a lot worse if we didn’t. In fact so bad that BBC says the planet would have been “uninhabitable.”
According to some models, the Montreal Protocol and its amendments have helped prevent up to two million cases of skin cancer yearly and avoided millions of cataract cases worldwide.
Had the world not banned CFCs, we would now find ourselves nearing massive ozone depletion. “By 2050, it’s pretty well-established we would have had ozone hole-like conditions over the whole planet, and the planet would have become uninhabitable,” says Solomon.
- Comment on HDMI Forum to AMD: No, you can’t make an open source HDMI 2.1 driver 8 months ago:
Not just widely used, but a monopoly. TVs don’t come with any other ports and now they’re restricting who can use this technology that has no other choice.
There needs to be an antitrust lawsuit against the HDMI forum IMO.

- Comment on Programmer tries to explain binary search to the police 11 months ago:
I fuckin hate cops as much as the next person but people love to spout this fact, but there is literally only 1 police department ever that has been documented doing this, and it was the one police department in Connecticut.
However the court did in fact rule it was legal, yes.
But the way everyone talks about it you’d think this was some super widespread policy that many departments use. And as far as I can tell there’s only ever been the 1 example. It’s the same case that every single article about it refers to.

The time interval between a full moon and the next repetition of the same phase, a synodic month, averages about 29.53 days
So nah, it wouldn’t align with the moon.

- Comment on Restaurant now charging customers a fee for 'bad parenting,' usually around $50 1 year ago:
No I totally agree. I can’t stand parents that let their kids run up and down the aisles of a restaurant or need their kid to watch a blaringly loud iPad just to keep them under control. I go to a restaurant for a nice peaceful time, not so I can hear Paw Patrol and screaming from the table next to me.
Parents need to learn to parent and have their children behave without resorting to the lazy cop out of letting their kids run around or watch an iPad. We did it for millennia. I’m tired of letting social norms go by the wayside just because technology exists.

Wow this is the first “pro-marvel” response that actually put some thought into it, and while I don’t personally agree you’ve made the only compelling argument in this entire thread as to why these marvel movies being constantly regurgitated makes any sense.

I felt that same way when I started using MacOS for work, but got used to it.
The fact that there’s no way to snap windows to a side of the screen without manually moving the window and resizing it is absurd. I have programs that allow me to do it, but like come on.
Also I still despise how fullscreen on MacOS works. It’s so obnoxious.
