I think we can all agree this was a mistake and rumble will benefit greatly.
- Comment on New bill in GOP-controlled House would ban feds from working with Big Tech to censor Americans 1 year ago:
Unfortunately the fbi was smart enough to always word it has "request" and not demand.
The fact that the fbi paid twitter employees for their time, though could represent a violation.
I think a law forbidding the fbi from paying and forbidding them from making censorship request could be very useful to explicitly make it illegal and not up to a judge to interpret
- Comment on Censorious Cowards at LinkedIn Refuse to Explain Their Trashing of First Amendment, Free Speech 1 year ago:
Easy. It's just like GitHub. You can just host your resume on a repo. Put your details in your profile. Head hunters can then just search profiles that matches what they need.
It's just missing the time line for post. Linked in time line is pretty much useless anyways though. Except to announce openings.

Says it's a soft fork. So it basically is gitea. They will keep merging gitea commits. Gitea is also adding federation.
I've deployed gitea around my house a couple times. It's really good software. I hope federation gets good and we could see some really interesting use cases. If course pull request will be federated. But also comments on issues and maybe even readme files to allow for a form of social networking.
Gitea is MIT licensed. So it basically means you can take the code, share your changes or not. Basically make it your own.
I can see why they are getting ready for a hard fork if the for profit company ever decides to stop sharing their changes.
Still takes a lot of work to develop software like that so having a way to pay for it feels important.
- Comment on Censorious Cowards at LinkedIn Refuse to Explain Their Trashing of First Amendment, Free Speech 1 year ago:
A federated linkedinn seems like it would be pretty useful. Problem is Big tech uses it to head hunt. You would basically have to get big tech to agree to not use big tech and I see that as a hard sell.
Still I feel like there could be a market for some kind of federated portfolio site. I thought perhaps gitea would kinda serve that purpose but they have been really slow to add federation. Like only one guy working on it part time.
- Comment on Microsoft Is Spying On You! 1 year ago:
I can't use windows. Sometimes I think, oh it would be nice to play this game that has anti cheat, or today this game is broken, or some other thing that works on windows, but for the most part every problem windows solves it gives me ten more.
Ads in the start menu, slow docker performance, difficulty mounting nfs drives, difficulty browsing various file systems, difficult to back things up, long grooling updates I don't control, Demanding I install edge browser.
Linux is legit easier than windows today.
- Comment on Twitter Permanently Suspends OANN Reporter For Reporting On Rep. Buddy Carter's Fair Tax Act Which Will ABOLISH The IRS 1 year ago:
He did get reinstated and everything is fixed. Does show without someone like Musk who cares it will just devolve into censorship hell because there is no technological barriers to censorship.
- Comment on Twitter rival Mastodon rejects funding to preserve nonprofit status 1 year ago:
LoL yeah that is funny. They keep describing it as if it's a centralized service and not a loosely connected network like it is.
I feel like that is part of the problem with it getting adopted. Normies have a hard time understanding how it be works.
- Comment on FBI releases statement on 'Twitter Files' 1 year ago:
I knew they would make that excuse.
We didn't tell them what to do. We just gave them accounts and tweets to look at
It was a threat. They know if twitter refused to work with the fbi the feds can make their life hell. And they will if Elon doesn't keep the fire to their feet.
Google, Microsoft, Amazon, IBM all have government contracts the feds can use as leverage.

- Comment on Twitter whistleblower report is much crazier than anything in the "Twitter files" 1 year ago:
Mudge informed Agrawal that there were thousands of failed login attempts to Twitter’s engineering system every day. Agrawal did nothing.
Gah what a piece of shit.
Mudge realized that a data center failure could potentially cause the permanent loss of all of Twitter’s data. He shared this fact with senior leadership, who instructed him not to put it in writing for the Board.
They could have taken weekly or monthly backups at the filesystem level. I do this for massive amounts of data. It is a pretty big project to set up and can be costly quick.
- Comment on Evidence Shows that It's Not Just Twitter and the FBI, the State Department, CISA, Facebook. YouTube and Google Are Also Working to Censure and Ban the Information You Receive 1 year ago:
That should be self-evident.
Sure is. Why is it that every single social media blocked all conversation of any medicine other than vaccines to treat covid-19? or any conversation about mail in ballots being unsafe? Because the same people were telling all of them the same things. I can't think of any other reason.

- Comment on LBRY says it ‘will likely be dead’ following SEC loss 1 year ago:
I'm not a huge fan of the CEO. I messaged him after I saw him in a interview. I told him I liked what he was doing. He told me to apply for a job. The application process got really sketchy.
I fixed a real bug in their code . Like from their list of actual bugs.
That was the application process. It was pretty quick and I was gonna look for another bug. After they merged the code, they told me they were not moving forward with me and then sent me some of their shit coin in my Odysee account.
It just felt sketchy.
I looked up the definition of a security.
A security is a tradable financial asset. The term commonly refers to any form of financial instrument, but its legal definition varies by jurisdiction.
Their home grown crypto asset fits that definition to me.
Sounds like he fucked around and found out.
While I'm sad to hear we will have fewer places to shit post, I think peertube instances are getting better.
I'll probably host my own for my own videos
