Different joke. This one is funny because trans women have a tendency to be arch users.

That’s why I like my steam deck so much: the design is so thoughtful and adapted to its own needs, and unfortunately that’s a rare sight lately (not just in technology).
- Comment on in search for a YouTube alternative to upload my video 1 month ago:
If you want it to be discoverable and easy to reach, go for YouTube. Otherwise, you have Vimeo, PeerTube (self-hosted, or you can join an instance), and that’s about it.
Your other option is just regular file hosting, and sharing the file directly.

Licking mercury should be fine… As long as you don’t inhale the vapors. But it’s surprisingly not toxic orally (allegedly).
- Comment on Researchers unlock fiber optic connection 1.2 million times faster than broadband 2 months ago:
Why the fuck would I want that speed if I can only fully use it for less than a second before hitting the data cap? I’d rather have 100 times less speed with 100 times more cap, so I can actually fully use it however I want.
Also it’s just ridiculous anyway because I don’t even think hard drive write speeds are that fast.

Come on, you don’t have to show your face, and I bet your voice isn’t that bad, it’s just how you feel about it. As bad as it is, I’d prefer it to the AI voices that are starting to become ubiquitous, because those tire my brain to no end.
Also, my job is literally recording voice actors, and I can tell you you can improve your narration, your timbre… whatever thing you think is holding you back. Just need to focus on it and practice ;)

I don’t think Che Guevara gave permission to use his image for trendy shirts. Is it that different? They’re using the image of a dead person to sell a product.
We need better protection against companies in general.

- Comment on She...she made a dildough 4 months ago:
Who calls conversion therapy “therapy”? It’s like calling alternative medicine “medicine”, what a way to misguide people into believing they are the same thing.
Also if the grandma was supportive, she wouldn’t need to make them wear a clay cock to have a grandson. They’d be her grandson regardless.
I respect your headcanon but this sounds more like she’s a girl and grandma wanted a boy, and she had therapy for that.
- Comment on Upon careful analysis of the top posts, I believe lemmy needs more unhinged text posts 4 months ago:
I posted two OCs and got zero comments and little upvotes, so it’s not encouraging me to post what I think is cool. But I agree, I think it’d give Lemmy much more personality.

As far as I could find (wikipedia) Tencent only has a minority of shares, Sony does as well. So hopefully things won’t change, but this is worrying news.

Yeah, and much of the cable content is lost to time. That’s why we have stories like that of Marion Stokes, that collected tapes at her home and preserved hundreds of thousands of hours of news footage.

- Comment on How Disney and Warner Bros. Are Causing Internet Piracy to Boom | Platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ were supposed to do away with pirated media. Instead, they may make them stronger than ever. 5 months ago:
I nuked my system once. I was 5-6 years old and I deleted system32 to make space for Symcity2000. PC didn’t turn on after resetting.
I’ve downloaded stuff and pirated media from the internet since I was like 10 (no internet access before that). Never have I ever nuked my system from piracy, even if I may have downloaded a virus or two (without notable consequences).
I feel like watching ads on YouTube nowadays or downloading random crap from the play store is more dangerous for your security than piracy is. I respect your decision though!

- Comment on Canadian Government Rewrites Online News Act (Bill C-18) in a Way That Excludes Smaller Outlets and Reserves Most of the Funds for Legacy Media 6 months ago:
As I understand it, they cancelled that law in exchange of $100m from Google. Then, Facebook, Google and other big companies got most of that money.
Apparently, the gov then decided to give them the rest as well (by giving it to the news companies with the most employees) because fuck It.

- Comment on China announced new laws to limit microtransactions, affecting major corporations like Tencent. 6 months ago:
This post is about China, and they obviously mean China when saying “broken clock”. What else would they be taking about??
But I disagree with it being sinophobia; criticism doesn’t equal hate.
