This is such a classic communication problem. I’d like to hear how to overcome it.

Lmao it is now my goal to use the phrase “language salty enough to cure pork”.

The Founder Pounder series could be interesting. With horny shape shifters, the depravity is limited only by your imagination!
- Comment on [HN] Goldman Sachs reportedly said Apple Card savings account was a mistake 1 year ago:
Why do I keep hearing about this? Goldman Sachs screwed up, and they have no one to blame but themselves. Chance and bad luck were not involved at any stage. I’m sure the terms were decided on well in advance, and in excruciating detail, which is supposed to be what they’re good at. All the information they needed was right there.
They could (and should) have seen this coming, but instead, they were blinded by greed, didn’t do the math, or both. Boo fucking hoo.

Wow, that’s bad. She looks (and moves) like she’s from The Sims.

The “Bored!” panel alone made me laugh!

TechCrunch being lazy. This is more like a press release than a story.
- Comment on Resistance was futile 1 year ago:
While my tastes are different, yours is an opinion I can respect, because you recognize Mulgrew’s awesomeness.
- Comment on Resistance was futile 1 year ago:
It works for me because Mulgrew really didn’t like Jeri Ryan at first, so throwing someone out the window for even suggesting a sexy new character makes sense.
(For anyone who hadn’t heard this before, it turned out fine. Mulgrew and Ryan were friends by the time the show ended.)
- Comment on Still trying to get me 1 year ago:
Well, yeah. That’s why I called it “tiny” and “not worth it”.
- Comment on Still trying to get me 1 year ago:
It just occurred to me that this is one of the (tiny) benefits of English being a confusing pain in the ass to learn: phishing scams are often much easier to spot.
Overall, it’s not worth it, of course, but still.
- Comment on Oberth Slander #2 1 year ago:
Well, now I kinda do want to try and tell you that, just to see what your response will be.
- Comment on Oberth Slander #2 1 year ago:
I must object to the slander of the Miranda class. That is one of my favorite starship designs of all time, Star Trek or otherwise.
I have no problem dumping on the Oberth class, though. Those things are crap.

Yeesh. Saying nothing at all would have been better than trying to make a joke of it.
- Comment on [HN] Please don’t theme our apps 1 year ago:
At first, I thought a theme was just a color scheme, and my initial reaction was “relax, people. Let people use different colors if they want”. After actually reading things, though, I saw that what they mean by “themeing” is much more complex. They have some solid arguments.

I asked some friends. The first response I got was “Love Sick?” I don’t know if the question mark is part of the title or if they were uncertain.

- Comment on Amazon To Start Running Ads In Prime Video Series & Movies, Will Launch Ad-Free Tier For Extra Fee 1 year ago:
As far as I’m concerned, the presence of commercial “breaks” makes a movie unwatchable. A good writer, director, or editor carefully manages things like pace, timing, and emotional impact. Interrupting that with an ad for car insurance completely destroys the mood, and cheapens the entire experience. I don’t care if commercials are “limited”. They shouldn’t be there at all.
I only tolerate commercials if I’ve already seen a movie a million times, and I’m only half paying attention anyway.

I like California’s reasoning here. I don’t know if the lawsuit will be allowed to succeed, but to me it seems only fair.
- Comment on [HN] Amazon's Union-Busting Training Video 1 year ago:
We won’t describe ourselves as anti-union, but we will constantly use the phrase “warning signs” when talking about indications of possible organizing activities. Also, “living wage” is a no-no word.

- Comment on Would you risk the virus to click this game ad? 1 year ago:
I would be very tempted… but then I’d also wonder if the ad was the best part. You know, like a great trailer for a crappy movie.

In my totally unprofessional opinion, if an irresponsible asshole is against a law designed to force responsible behavior, said law is probably a good idea.
