- Comment on Microsoft is overhauling the Windows 11 interface with WinUI everywhere 1 day ago:
You mean this Frankenstein’s Monster that is possibly 5 OSes hidden inside? I think I occasionally see win7 config menus hidden in there occasionally. I am so disappointed I have to use this hot dog vomit for work. The fact genuine IT professionals do not walk away from this makes me really start questioning some people credentials.
Edit:
I noticed you talked about the nature of Linux being disjointed. Honestly, once I started staying to the relevant DE type with apps, my experience has been much more cohesive than Win11. My main issue is still weird bugs but, hell, I get more of those on Win11 than my Arch machines.
- Comment on Why this $10 spectrometer chip could bring real-time chemical sensing to wearables 1 month ago:
I worked in contract manufacturing for making electronics.
We had certain contractual yields required. If the yield was below 90% (industry standard), they would pay us for the scrap. The assumption for that being they should have a confidence and reliability in their process that allows it to be higher. If we produced a higher yield than 90%, they got those for free.
Of course, yield numbers and reimbursement terms can be negotiated as part of the contracts.
- Comment on Science Says People Who Lose Weight on GLP-1 Drugs Face More Stigma Than People Who Stay Overweight. That’s Just Weird 2 months ago:
As someone who worked hard to lose 100 lbs across 3 years, I get it. After all of the sacrifice I did, yeah I get mad when my friends who have no need for this med take it to get into swimsuit shape. Its the vapid use of a drug that benefits so many actual medical disorders that pisses me off in combination with the easy mode weight loss. Call me petty but its my frustration. I have friends who do need GLP-1s for diabetes management or other health issue and they can’t access the drug due in part to this kind of non-medically necessary usage.

See? We could have technobabbled it into a new character on the show but here we are, arguing about this again lol

I never understood why they didn’t just use the transporter to recreate Tuvok and Neelix. You have their patterns on file when they last transported. Just leave him alive and duplicate those two and you get both scenarios. We have seen examples of duplicates throughout the show. I know this isn’t really the point, but it’s always felt needlessly contentious when the writers could have just done it.

Couldn’t ya just… Leave him there, after the caretaker episodes, in that bondyard where they found him? I know he’s annoying but like damn.
