- Comment on Brazil shuts BYD factory site over 'slavery' conditions 3 weeks ago:
@zante@slrpnk.net
When they do it, it’s “subsidies” When we do it, it’s “investment”The list of government incentives in the UK is long but If china is doing even more , that’s up to them right ? But it’s always implied it’s some kind of foul play.
Just look at the Chinese ‘subsidies’ system and you’ll see it can’t be compared to those in the West for a variety of reasons. And then add to that the forced labour regimes in Xinjiang and at BYD’s factory in Brazil (the authorities in Brazil just closed a BYD factory because of ‘slavery’-like conditions).

- Comment on Sign the petition calling on PM Keir Starmer to be bold when dealing with Donald Trump 2 months ago:
The petition alone won’t change much, but it could be one step in the right direction when we are willing to keep going a long way. That sounds pathetic, and maybe it fails, but being indifferent and doing nothing is certainly not an option as we know. As Biden said in his recent speech, “Setbacks are inevitable, giving up is unforgivable.”
