@ju_ri @selfhosted I don't think so. The plugin is called "enable mastodon apps"
- Comment on WordPress and ActivityPub: my first fail @ selfhosted I'v 1 day ago:
@ju_ri @selfhosted the only issues is that the activitypub client (posting from mastodon clients) doesn't work and gives no errors

@ju_ri @selfhosted I've activated fediverse now, but it's a very basic instance with base WordPress. I must rearrange my whole multilingual experience. Damn.

@ju_ri @selfhosted It's driving me completely mad
- Comment on WordPress and ActivityPub: my first fail @ selfhosted I'v 1 day ago:
@ju_ri @selfhosted It didn't work. The "redirect" app as explained in the forum, doesn't work, because despite my WordPress resides in "domain .ext /wp", if I install redirect on the "/" URL, it stops, saying it can't be installed. I think I'm going to try writing on YunoHost forum

@ju_ri @selfhosted I'm afraid I have screwed my YunoHost service. I tried to follow the forum's rules (no idea if they can help me with the ActivityPub problem) I was just logging in to get my admin interface. But ... [POST] "https://plusbrothers.net/yunohost/portalapi/login": <no response> Load failed I think tomorrow I'm going to perform a regen conf

- Comment on WordPress multisite in selfhosting: one fail, one success @ selfhosted 2 weeks ago:
@irmadlad The huge problem is that most documentation is in video format or full of information conveyed just by colors. In this, I have to admit, AI helps. As I can ask it to find what I need, and explain strings in human readable language. Well, of course if I have an idea of what I'm doing at least as principle. Such as "explain in words why this nginx rule doesn't work, why test has failed"

@bytepursuits @selfhosted I've tried one mini-pc about 10 years ago; what a disappointment! It was a small jewel, touching it. It ran Win10, 64GB hard disk. For a couple years it has been my emergency portable aid - I installed NVDA (non visual desktop access) screen reader in it, as JAWS for Windows, the commercial one, is very heavy. So, after a few updates from Win10, this poor machine literally became so, so slow. And, hot. It seemed to have a little oven in my hands.
Now, I don't find anything interesting; those machine, low-priced, sold in extra-EU e-commerces, don't seem trustworthy. The second one I bought was bigger, about the size of an iPad mini. But it arrived with broken LCD screen. As a blind user, I was relying just on audio. But in the end, gearbest said "you have broken it" - money thrown in the toilet. - Comment on Self hosting: real game starts today @ selfhosted So, it' 3 weeks ago:
@khleedril @selfhosted It is 25 years I work on web, I started through YunoHost, which is a web-based application manager. Users say terminal knowledge is not needed, but, well, it helps a lot!
I'm not a sysadmin, can't manage a VPS from scratch. But I do my best to make things work. - Comment on Self hosting: real game starts today @ selfhosted So, it' 3 weeks ago:
@cybervseas I have learnt how to do it through YunoHost, I will transfer the pattern to the new domain - I've built nothing yet, regarding interface and posts. I want to have a working infrastructure before.

@irmadlad I must find a reliable backup system which fits my accessibility needs correctly - backup is crucial, if you have some unidentified controls, information conveying just on colors, etc... you'll be screwed

@irmadlad A sysadmin is someone who works hard days and nights, with configurations written by hand, and documentation all around. Working all night till things work as they want them to.
I'm not a sysadmin, I'm asking for help every moment, I'm always afraid to break everything down. - Submitted 1 month ago to selfhosted@lemmy.world | 7 comments
