Oh yes, you are definitely good for linking both, although we both know nobody (hyperbole) is thinking in relative terms when they read, “reversed direction”.
While the paper is far more clear in interpretation, the article is still sensationalist shit.
Note that I do not ask for less scientific coverage, but a bare minimum in factual representation with what most might understand…
“reverse” vs “slowed down” is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL in communication. Why say something LESS CLEARLY unless the point is to mislead?!
- Comment on Any tips on plastic adhesives? Trying to repair headphones 1 week ago:
The headphones I currently use (on my head right now) also have physical reinforcement, but instead of zip ties it’s just a thin tensile wire I had lying around. Tied it around a cylinder piece that broke off that holds a rotatable insert, superglue, and lots of extra wraps encased in superglue… and it’s perfect! … outside of where I was dumb and got glue between the rotatable faces and now it binds up a bit, but otherwise great. Replacement parts would’ve been like $35+.
… I guess all of that is to say, physical reinforcement is excellent when it’s adding strength as opposed to replacing strength!
- Comment on Any tips on plastic adhesives? Trying to repair headphones 1 week ago:
physical reinforcement is a good suggestion lots are coming up with. If it’s not too late, I’d recommend doing that with something that dissolves the ABS instead of an adhesive. ABS dissolves readily with a few solvents, like acetone. Get physical reinforcement in place, and IF you do not need any bulk filler, just use a solvent like acetone to literally melt and repolymerize the plastic back together. As long as there’s no new gaps or new voids, the physical reinforcement should leave it stronger than the original. At least after all the solvent evaporates away.
If you need gap filler or bulk reinforcement, two part epoxies are definitely the way to go, though make sure to use something quite flexible or it’ll just crack off the next time you drop them.
- Comment on Earth’s molten core suddenly reversed direction — and scientists don’t know why 2 weeks ago:
It (the core) DID NOT “reverse directions”. It was spinning slightly faster than the crust, now it’s spinning slightly slower.
This specific small section is flowing eastward instead of westward, which is faster, so the title directly contradicts both the old news about the core and this specific news they go on to half-describe in the article.
FFS, this kind of irresponsible “journalism” is half the reason people are so misinformed on things. Clickbait is garbage, especially about science.

Do you know how common communication was across the world back then vs today?
- Comment on Three Millennia Ago, Humans May Have Spoken Thousands More Languages Than We Have Today, During a Linguistic 'Golden Age' 3 weeks ago:
Call me ignorant if you wish, but unifying communication is very much not one of the ills brought about by imperialism. Not to mention, basic economics and technological advancement did A LOT of the work, too. Much like how we now have unified time zones around the world. That wasn’t imperialism. That was economics (as much as global economics can be unentangled from the imperialism that accelerated it, anyways).
- Comment on Three Millennia Ago, Humans May Have Spoken Thousands More Languages Than We Have Today, During a Linguistic 'Golden Age' 3 weeks ago:
A golden age … where people couldn’t communicate across vast regions without scholarly levels of knowledge…
We really need to reconsider what we’re calling a, “golden age”…

Isopropyl alcohol. a little dab under the print will help it come loose.
Though it is best to use a release agent with TPU, like a glue stick.

Magic sky daddy and your local bishop/priest/etc that definitely can be trusted with children alone behind closed doors… By the way, pay your tithes!!
Again, it amazes me that anyone gives such clowns the light of day.
- Comment on I like my Rii K06 keyboard. I have one small problem I'm hoping for some help with. The IR remote will turn off my TV but won't turn it on. 1 month ago:
Some manufacturers made all sorts of different codes for instructions between various models of tv and remote. That includes some different TVs only sharing an ’on’ or ’off’ code and not the other.
It’s why many ‘universal’ remotes will tell you in the instructions to keep trying different numbers for the manufacturer until all features work. So… you’ll have to do that. Try all Toshiba TV codes that remote knows. If none of them support all features, hopefully you can tweak button by button!

Christian conservatives are some of the weakest, least prepared for life people I have ever met. It constantly amazes me that anyone listens to those clowns…

lol I’ve understood the issue. The original post is not exactly nuanced.

Who is downvoting a post based on what’s not in the post title or body? Besides, there are for more downvotes now than when I made my original comment, so it’s clearly not people being fooled by previous, now removed comments.
Also, O said or. It’s Either they’re against a community of answering questions openly, or have the reading comprehension of a potato…
- Comment on This community isn't your personal adviser 2 months ago:
Eh… IMO there’s a big difference between disagreeing about something reasonable, and disagreeing about the most basic tenets of what makes a community a community.
Kinda’ just making room for the sort of hypocritical ilk that ruin so many things. I can think of so many political and religious examples these days but I’ll refrain from fully describing such depressing things.

Who’s downvoting this?? Ban those moronic leeches. They’re either anti-community or have the reading comprehension of a potato, ffs.
