- Comment on Anime Questions, Recommendations, and Discussion Thread [2026, Week 29] 2 days ago:
I started watching Chainsmoker Cat and holy crap it hit WAY too close to home for me as someone who was once very broke and smoked. Like in the first episode she was doing stuff that I thought only I ever did. celebrating over finding a “long one”, smoking butts that had a bit of grime on them, digging through butts to pick out the ones that were still “smokeable”, doing the whole “i have 6 smokes left and don’t get paid for another 6 days, i can do one a day until then” and then not doing that.
I had to stop midway through the second episode cause A. it was making me want to smoke again and B. it was reminding me of my past.

I’m looking forward to the items from this that you’ll be able to find in game. yet ANOTHER excuse to replay through it again.
- Comment on Anyone have one or two anime that they watched and were surprised it wasn’t more popular? 5 weeks ago:
Fire Force. I got god damn hooked on that show a few years ago. And I’m someone who general just watches anime films, ovas, or limited series. favourites being Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex and Second Gig, FLCL, Cowboy Bebop, etc. so generally nothing that has multiple seasons.
So Fire Force really isn’t the type of anime I’m into. I’m not huge on the goofy fan service type of stuff that takes place over multiple seasons. hell I’ve never watched One Piece. But this show for whatever reason just hooked me. I had reminders set for when new episodes would come out. I can’t quite put my finger on why I liked it but I just did. It’s fun.
Other than that I don’t know how popular it is but Psycho Pass. that one is more up my ally. I enjoyed that and the theme song is a real banger.

yeah Phil Fish is a bit of a dick to put it lightly. he was one of the focus’ of the documentary “Indie Game: The Movie” back before Fez game out and even then he was a jerk.
- Comment on Do I belong in tech anymore? - On quitting, the spread of AI, and the loss of an ideal. 2 months ago:
I’m also quitting or rather retiring this year. a couple years ago I pivoted from being a contract/consultant dev to doing consultation work to clean up AI slop that various companies produced.
I had hoped that eventually my clients would get it, would realize that utilizing LLMs for end to end builds and vibe coding your way to a final product didn’t work but…no…they aren’t getting it. They refuse to acknowledge it.
I’m tired. I’m tired of the same song and dance with every client “hey this app we made isn’t scaling and there’s a lot of issues with it, can you run a code review and tell is where we went wrong?” “sure you used AI to build this from end to end via a vibe coder who doesn’t know any of the languages the AI used. you need to start over with actual real devs” and nope. they just find another vibe coder that they feel can write better prompts.
So I’m quitting. I can’t do it anymore. I was hoping this bubble would have burst by now but the way, especially recently, companies are fighting tooth and nail to keep these shit producing agents going because they’re way too invested now is worrying. IF this bubble bursts it’s going to take EVERYONE with it. Everyone. so I’m getting out now and hope my money is still worth something when it does burst.
