This shit is so annoying on GitHub. I feel like changes to a codebase are something that really makes sense to describe in hard dates and times. Telling me that some dumbass (me) introduced a bug “3 months ago” is not enough info, especially when it was actually 3 months and 24 days.

I struggle to believe that anyone is 100.00% straight or gay. Like, really? You’re straight, sure… But there’s not one person? One situation? One perfect storm of circumstances where you’d try swinging the other way just a little bit?

When the bubble bursts it will play out exactly the same as it always does. The government will use money it doesn’t have to bail out the too-big-to-fail companies causing runaway inflation, rates will be jacked up to bring inflation down causing a recession, we will all get laid off, and by the time everything starts to stabilize and we have disposable income something will happen to make prices untenable again.

On the bright side, at least the entire global economy isn’t ridiculously overextended on this delusional bubble.

The idea is that in the future your “personal computer” will be a streaming stick that you plug into a monitor to access your Microslop Copilot Windows 12 OneDrive Azure Cloud Virtual PC for $99 a month.

Absolutely. You won’t be able to use tap to pay, and the Google Wallet app doesn’t open for me. Certain banking and finance apps might require some additional compatibility settings to be enabled. Otherwise it’s been an extremely smooth experience for me.

- Comment on How possible is it that Trump is doing some "insider trading" regarding the possible Iran strike in Polymarket? 1 week ago:
You mean the guy that sold stock, intentionally tanked the stock market, bought back in, then went on TV to brag about how much money he and his inner circle made on the pump and dump? He would never!
But on a serious note, we have consistently seen major bets placed on polymarket hours before trump does something. If it isn’t him, someone close is making bank on being in the know.

Donald Trump was unironically obsessed with Edward Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s relationships. Had multiple crashouts on Twitter about it.

- Comment on Let Nazis Talk 2 weeks ago:
In a world of rampant anti-intellectual, disinformation, and rising fascist movements, you’re suggesting we should allow dangerous ideologies to be spread unchecked out of some naive belief that people will suddenly, after years of this not being the case, disregard them due to finding them stupid?
Talk about proving how stupid you are.

No, rename it to the gulf of Barack Hussein Obama, just to troll him. Same with the Kennedy center. And the East Wing crater or whatever they’re pretending that’ll be.

Thanks, this reminded me of the time Chris Chan tried to roast Mike Pollack by telling him that Eggman’s name backwards kinda sounds like “nah, I’m gay.” I am now dying of terminal second-hand cringe.

Back when Google was a decent search engine you could just search “something site:someforum.com” since the built in search was so ass
Something Reddit has in common with old forums

Your cloud backups are not encrypted either, and you have to explicitly opt out of cloud backups. That means any chats or group chats that involve someone who hasn’t opted out are sitting unencrypted on Meta servers. Even if everyone has opted out and assume it’s encrypted, they still know who you’re talking to, when you talk to them, how frequently, etc.

Yeah I’ve bought my last couple laptops from my company’s asset disposal department, I’ve gotten pretty good deals and usually just need to replace the battery after a few years. Not looking forward to when their stock starts getting into the models with slop buttons.

Well bribery and corruption are illegal only in theory and only if you don’t call it “lobbying.” Google has a lot of money so it really doesn’t matter (to the people making the rules) if these things should be on the road or not.

And obviously the Piefed codebase is so politically and ethically agreeable… /s
People are more likely to donate to a project that they actually use. If more people are using piefed, it means more money going to that project rather than a bunch of tankies. So I can see why people who disagree with the Lemmy devs might want to direct people elsewhere even if the software itself is apolitical.
- Comment on 4 weeks ago:
Lemmy and Piefed are both Reddit alternatives. I’m not sure what all the pros and cons are of each, but Lemmy’s developers are tankies so probably better to direct users and funding to a different project. I’m only on Lemmy because I wasn’t aware of Piefed when I first joined.
