Back in 2009, I was there, saw the release of Bitcoing on Slashdot news. I had a computer on 24/7 because I was working on my thesis. Minin on CPU was feasible. I thought it could be a cool experiment to have a bit, just for fun. I never bothered with the hassle of actually running the miner on those very first days with the CPU and electricity I had from my uni for free.

- Comment on Ad blocking is alive and well, despite Chrome's attempts to make it harder 1 day ago:
I use Ad Nausaem (probably butchered the spelling) Firefox plugin on my home PC for that. Instead of blocking ads, it hides them into a sandbox and “clicks” on them in the background. Won’t use it on anything battery-powered though.

They are similar platforms and they federate, i.e. you can see all Lemmy content with a Piefed account and vice versa.

I use Perplexity for my searches, and it really depends on how much I care about the subject. I heard a name and don’t know who they are? LLM summary is good enough to have an idea. Doing research or looking up technical info? I open the cited sources.

That would be crazy expensive for the studios. LLM companies are selling their services at a loss at the moment.

It said attractive, not necessarily best looking. Being smort is super duper attractive.

That one is funny. And somewhat interesting project to see limits of LLMs. There is another project called vibeos at https://vibeos.sh/ which is, more disgusting than anything I guess.

Pro-Israel is a silly term right now. Pro-genocide is more accurate.

It wasn’t a sincere remark, more of a statement of frustration. People think Linux runs no “useful” applications and it’s just a hobby of some nerds.

The owners typically don’t show up at all. They hire CEOs to run their companies, which is fair game. You pitchfork a CEO, you still send a message.
