I guess I don’t see any maga media, but I haven’t seen a lot even on lemmy. Maybe 2 articles. Nothing much on the news that I follow.
In contrast I saw the same three steam box articles over and over again, crosspost after crosspost, for like 3 insufferable weeks.

Exactly it’s all this “yes we’re sorry we didn’t release the files we promised to release in may and were legally required to release by Friday, but y’all are gonna be cool about it right” and then everyone is cool about it when they should be defunding the fbi send removing bug-eyed scum from authority roles.

Ah, the slippery slope fallacy on steroids.
They said they won’t do X
But what if they miss something and do X for something unimportant
Well it doesn’t matter that much, it’s unimportant
But what if they then change their minds and do X…
I dunno man, I think you’re worried too much about a studio that actively said they want to do right by people rather than the folks out there actively causing harm
- Comment on Word. 2 days ago:
Seems solid, although I think it’s safe to say for the core function it doesnt look as powerful as word (which is fair since most people don’t need that) and it does seem to have nice add-ons like graphs and code blocks.
I would be cautious about using a markdown editor and assuming it’s cross-compatible. Core markdown is shockingly limited, and every other flavor seems just a little bit different from one another. Whether it’s how they do code blocks, or how they add other functions, there’s always something. But as long as you’re not switching between tools that’s no risk.
- Comment on Word. 2 days ago:
That’s not the problem of a text editor from the 90s. That’s the problem of people who need that function. If only there were several fine tools for that function that already exist.
- Comment on Word. 2 days ago:
Fine if you’re so evolved, what’s your magnificent “good” document editor?
- Comment on Word. 2 days ago:
If you can’t ignore a spelling error in word you’re just not competent and need to learn how to use the tool. Sorry.

Oh nooooo what will we do as a society If pewter mug number two worth 0 gold gets left in by accident? It’s literally the worst thing that could possibly happen in 2026. Nothing else could excess the horror of a 50x50 pixel icon for worthless junk that was generated by a computer feather than a person. 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱

- Comment on Mozilla’s new CEO is doubling down on an AI future for Firefox 3 days ago:
I mean…I can absolutely get behind hating oracle. Not only was oracle always evil, they also prop java which is terrible. And now the family has gotten into MAGA propaganda. It’s an awful family and company and product.
IE hasn’t been a thing for like a decade though. The war is over. You won. You’re safe now.
I disagree with your description of edge though. It’s more like the evil version of inspector gadget. Like if he was corrupted by the oracle corporation and every gadget was turned nefarious. This kinda breaks down because chrome is also evil but whatever I still think it works.

It’s hard to imagine being so butthurt at a piece of now-defunct, 20-year-old software that you pretend it still is the default just so you can call it a dumb name.

In my culture we like to have sex. My culture enjoys producing 2.1 children per woman in prosperous times. In less prosperous time my culture still likes to make babies, but it might be more or less.

Well something tells me Hammurabi wasn’t aware of patriot missiles, so forgive me if I skip over that asshole’s opinion on things.
There’s a lot of industries out there, most of them are bad. Whether it’s oil&gas, aerospace, automotive, even basic scientific research…pretty much always ends up doing harm. Pure software engineering isn’t any better off – I mean every engineer who worked at Facebook in the 2010s has their hands bloodied with a genocide they facilitated.

If you’re an engineer you’ve almost certainly contributed meaningfully to the death of someone.

Are you sure they aren’t selling you all seasons and calling them summer tires?
I don’t live there by my impression was that while people walk a lot it’s more within small dense areas and between those areas everyone buses etc, so maybe people and cars are better segregated?
