Air coolers will simply last longer with no significant cooling penalty

I’m guessing it’ll pair horrible battery life with awful build quality like most Windows laptops tend to do. They’re all focusing on being thin and light like a MacBook but none of them are close to what Apple has, because of that they loose everything that makes PCs special in the desperate attempt to achieve something Apple does better.
- Comment on We own the hardware, but not the experience anymore — Big Tech keeps building smarter, more connected devices, but the user experience feels more intrusive, more confusing, and less human 5 days ago:
If you want to keep using Gnome 2 there are a million forks that are actively maintained, or idk you could just use another desktop. Nobody is forcing you to use gnome but you aren’t entitled to having a project do things the way you specifically want.

Honestly adding spam to small communities only makes them worse, I like how on lemmy small communities are genuine and have a handful of real posters not bots spamming trash. We don’t need infinite content for every niche so you can scroll forever.

That makes absolutely no sense, we have more than enough activity on lemmy without reddit trash. We don’t need a million posts a second we need a steady stream of high quality content made by real people.

Because it’s corporate controlled embedded Linux, you aren’t guaranteed any freedom or control. Hell you aren’t even guaranteed access to a debug menu. Technically a car manufacturer could make a open a free car running embedded Linux that does give you freedom but the chances are absurdly low.

Not only will Automotive Linux not save us it will power the new proprietary car systems

- Comment on Looks Like We Can Finally Kiss the Metaverse Goodbye 4 weeks ago:
Its still highly up in the air if it’ll acturally have the performance to play PCVR games considering Fex overhead or if it’ll essentially be a tethered headset
- Comment on Looks Like We Can Finally Kiss the Metaverse Goodbye 4 weeks ago:
Yeah and I can also play most games on my PC, unless the Steam Frame can also run VR games it’ll be a hard sell
- Comment on Looks Like We Can Finally Kiss the Metaverse Goodbye 4 weeks ago:
I guess VRChat will still exist but getting into VR will be very difficult
- Comment on Looks Like We Can Finally Kiss the Metaverse Goodbye 4 weeks ago:
People here forget that a likely $700+ headset designed for streaming (let’s be honest we have no idea how many games will make native ports) is mostly gonna take off with VR enthusiasts. Like the Index this is an explicitly premium headset.
- Comment on Looks Like We Can Finally Kiss the Metaverse Goodbye 4 weeks ago:
No but undeniably the death of the metaverse is taking VR with it, once meta leaves the VR space it will be exclusively for enthusiasts and low quality indie games.
- Comment on Looks Like We Can Finally Kiss the Metaverse Goodbye 4 weeks ago:
I predict it’ll be four times the price, and overpriced toy with no games
