- Comment on Why am I not Irish 6 days ago:
Well, if you’re like me it’s because all your ancestors 15 generations back all sat in the same small region and probably never came close to meeting anyone from Ireland.
- Comment on Is there any reason we were taught in school that blood is blue in the body until it reaches oxygen and then it turns red other than our veins look blue? 1 week ago:
Some teachers have no idea about things and still try to teach them. They aren’t different from other people there.
We were taught a lot of stupid shit in elementary school, because the teacher was a crank and proud of it. I remember vividly how he tried to explain the density anomaly of water (to ten year olds) by saying that atoms in solid objects move faster than in liquids and therefore need more space. I didn’t believe one word of it.

You don’t need to be related to any Spanish or Scandinavian people to have similar markers. MyHeritage marked me with 35% DNA from the British Isles, but many people in my specific region if Germany seem to have the same.
- Comment on So why are Indian curries so popular in the UK? (interest in culinary perspectives). 1 week ago:
We have two in my town. One is overly greasy, the other one overly salty. I suspect neither of them employs trained cooks but rather people that originally came here as tech students. I think both have mango chicken, but you can also get that in the Chinese places and in one pizza restaurant - which, despite having an Italian name, is run by Pakistani, but still has the second best pizza in town.

I suppose there are so many people with Indian roots in GB that you can actually get good Indian food there. There’s competition and enough people who know how it’s supposed to taste like. I mean, where I live in Germany we have Indian restaurants run by Indian immigrants, but they are quite often not very good.
- Comment on Avocado. Is it really so untasty or I am doing something wrong? 1 week ago:
Avocados aren’t sweet and contain a lot of fat, so yes, they kind of taste like a butter block with kind of a vegetable undertone. That’s why they are usually eaten seasoned and as a savory.
That said, if they aren’t traditional in your country, they don’t have that much going for them. I like guacamole, but I don’t think the it justifies the price when there are so many other things to eat.
- Comment on I suck at reading comprehension... what the heck does this law even mean? [8 U.S. Code § 1451 - Revocation of naturalization] 1 week ago:
They are trying to get rid of that too, but it seems to be difficult.
- Comment on Under the most ideal circumstances, how 'clean' is drinkable tap water by the time it reaches our taps? 2 weeks ago:
It’s a bit safer to use freshly boiled water. You can contaminate distilled water if you keep it around long enough.
- Comment on Under the most ideal circumstances, how 'clean' is drinkable tap water by the time it reaches our taps? 2 weeks ago:
You have to drink quite a lot of destilled water or drink it regularly for this to matter. Also, Iron can’t be pulled out of your body, that’s why it can be quite dangerous to overdose on iron supplements long term.
- Comment on Dude, Where Is My Beer? is not as fun as it sounds 3 weeks ago:
The puzzles are early-90s hard/obtuse in some parts to give it longevity of playtime.
Yeah, I know. But usually they make sense or are funny after you got the solution. In Steel Sky it just seems totally random.

I really did not care for it very much. The puzzles are awfully random.
- Comment on Can people irl be as mean as some people online? 4 weeks ago:
Yes, but very few and I think they might have personality disorders.
- Comment on Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week? 4 weeks ago:
Creatures 2. I wasn’t sure what to make of this game as a kid and I can honestly say I’m not any wiser now.
- Comment on How long does it take for pregnancy to become noticeable? 1 month ago:
That really depends a lot on body shape. You surely heard about women who repressed any thought of pregnancy and nobody else did notice either. Apart from that I’d say 20 weeks.
- Comment on Do you touch the light switch entering a room if it's already on? 1 month ago:
No - only in the garage which recently got a motion activated light installed. It’s also the only place in the house where I always swichted the light on because it’s always dark. So I’m simply not used to not switching the light on there yet.
I tend to accidentally lock my office door at work, or try to unlock it when I’m inside and want to go out. That’s because the printing room door needs to be locked constantly and I go there several times a day.
- Comment on Can I eat sprouted beets? 2 months ago:
Sprouts are only really a problem with potatoes. You can eat beet leafs and sprouts, so you only need to check if they aren’t spoiled in some other way.

He wants the war to end and doesn’t care how. He wants to be seen as a peace- and dealmaker and doesn’t care about the details. He also respects Putin because he is what Trump wants to be. At the same time, however, it’s easy to sway Trump in any direction if you talk to him in person. He’ll accept your opinion as his own until one of his aides tells him otherwise.
- Comment on Not to get all religous but was not Jesus pissed for people making money in churches? Didn't he flip tables and everything? Then how do churches nowadays explain the collection plate? 3 months ago:
It can be even funnier. I’m an atheist, but I go to church regularly with my wife. Some weeks ago the priest read that part of the bible - and everyone turned their head, looking at the stands in the back of the church where they were going to sell fair trade products later that day.
- Comment on Thief 1 & 2, the grandfather of the stealth genre 3 months ago:
I think it’s worth mentioning that the games got a fully fledged prequel with “Thief: The Black Parade” in 2023. It’s a total conversion mod of Thief 2 that is so well made that it’s basically a new game. I can really recommend it. I think I even liked it more than the base game
- Comment on Does Ōkami get better? [Spoilers for first half of game inside] 4 months ago:
It’s been ages since I played it, I don’t remember that it gets better. I should have listened to the reviews back then, because they all said that it was generally very easy and might bore more experienced players.
