How very American of you.
- Comment on 40% of teenage boys believe women lie about domestic and sexual violence: new research 1 week ago:
A very normal, and rational series of sentences. Maybe you could call the crying teenagers your standing over in your fantasy “pussy” after you “bitchslap” them. Right before you beat into them the idea that violence is bad too, of course.
- Comment on 40% of teenage boys believe women lie about domestic and sexual violence: new research 1 week ago:
Our research: In our recent national survey of Australian adults and adolescents, we examined general misogynistic attitudes and support for violent extremism.
Not sure if this is what they’re referring but am also curious how this survey was conducted.
For example the question “do you believe women lie about DV/SV”. As someone who had a parent lie about related matters, I could answer yes, but is that what the question is actually asking? It seems to be asking if women, in general, lie about them. Obviously, no they don’t, but you can see how a question especially when posed to teenagers may lead to responses easily sensationalised by a news outlet. The inverse of this questions seems to be “do you believe women never lie about DV/SV?”
There’s a reason self reported surveys are a nightmares for academics to use for meaningful data. Worth pointing the rest of the article has a lot of valid and concerning material that isn’t somehow magically undone by the articles research methods.
- Comment on Why some Australians are spending $35,000 a year on food delivery apps 2 weeks ago:
I used to order somewhat frequently when I first moved to the city on a weekend before the pandemic and the prices became cooked. Going from a small city of 3 Chinese restaurants and one sushi place to an entire city you can order from was awesome and novel.
Gradually every other order just started getting messed up. I was home pissed one night and decided to order some food while gaming with some mates. It came hours late and Uber offered me like five bucks off my next order and that’s after bitching about it. That’s was pretty much the end for me. The food can arrive whenever, in whatever state and so long as it arrives, fuck you eat your hour cold slop. I can buy and/or make better junk food myself for far cheaper in most case. With one of their main competitors folding I doubt it’s gotten better.
It also felt like some of the stores didn’t want to do Uber. That management saw the dollar signs but then wouldn’t put more staff on Fri/Sat when the stores would get swamped with orders from boozers.

Fun fact: the choreography was far easier for the prehistoric sea monsters to learn due to their inability to metabolise LSD.

Does he not still have a warrant out with ICC? Or does law and order only become a priority when it works for some?
- Comment on AI agents now have their own Reddit-style social network, and it's getting weird fast 1 month ago:
Lmao already people making their agents try this on the site. Of course what could have been a somewhat interesting experiment devolves into idiots getting their bots to shill ads/prompt injections for their shitty startups.

Also temporarily unblocked because I came across this in modlogs after reporting spammers. Similar with a below poster you’re on here, all hours, spamming inflammatory political post. There’s enough posters who clearly don’t do much else with their time but use lemmy as a means to vent their frustration about their lives. Regardless of if I may appreciate why some protest Australia Day. Finding you then tagged a bunch of people who downvoted you to try and paint them as racist and shame them has all but confirmed this for me. Go touch some grass and do something productive with your life and you might be on social media less and be happier for it. Now to go back to not having to hear from you again, for the better.
- Comment on Musk lawsuit over OpenAI for-profit conversion can go to trial, US judge says 2 months ago:
More concerningly is this going to trial in the US’ current governmental “degraded” (to put it lightly) condition. NFPs get a bunch of concessions and benefits to being such. It’s not unheard of for NFPs to have for profits subsidiaries but I feel like letting them bootstrap into FP, often on the taxpayers/states dime should be, legally speaking, a no no.

Fuck that is depressing. I had hoped I’d be able to pay for a service and not worry about this shit to avoid the hassle of self hosting. Very informative thank you.

Thanks for the links, the recovery email aspect was covered in the initial comment old mate was replying to. I was more interested in if the hand your ass over remark had anything to do with the “they cant read your emails”/encryption part. The second link is very interesting though:
After providing the activist’s metadata to Swiss authorities, ProtonMail removed the section that had promised no IP logs, replacing it with one saying, “ProtonMail is an email that respects privacy and puts people (not advertisers) first.”

Also, sealioning is “just asking questions” (JAQ’ing off). Consistently interrogating a position or POV for example, with request for evidence. Not asking someone to provide some sort of evidence for a single claim they made in reply to another user and refused to find evidence for their claim.
Sealioning (also sea-lioning and sea lioning ) is a type of trolling or harassment that consists of pursuing people with relentless requests for evidence, often tangential or previously addressed, while maintaining a pretense of civility and sincerity ("I’m just trying to have a debate"), and feigning ignorance of the subject matter
Emphasis mine. From wiki. I appreciate the attempt to deescalate though and accept it’s probably time to pack it in with that particular user.

How about you google burden of proof? Like the other user said burden of proof is on the party making the claim. It’s not on other people to prove the claim wrong by doing research for you.

Sure I saw yours and accept that, but “hand your ass over” doesn’t equate to “complies minimally with legal request they have to in order to remain functioning as a business” in my book.

Burden of proof is on you.

Are you basing this on anything? I agree with another poster that proton being the go to alternative is somewhat suspect in my paranoid brain but some of these remark here seem pretty outlandish.

One of these can just be solve with a mailbox rule within the email client itself for what it’s worth. Make a rule that’s based on keywords in the subject line and have them moved into a folder that you clear out every couple of months. Downside is the email client need to be running/opened for it to process them.

Yeah, I thought some degree of English aptitude would be required for citizenship/visas. Though it does also state he wrote in correspondence so could be just an attempt to curry leniency.

Ah fair enough on them not being protected in NZ but I still fail to see how they can be a significant pest problem beyond swooping. Definitely not to the point of shooting them anyway.
- Comment on I've never been in a situation where me having a gun would have made things bettter. 2 months ago:
Lucky you don’t have a license (I assume) because magpies are protected. Why the hell you’d want to shoot a non-pest is beyond me; even they can be dickheads in mating season.

- Comment on NSW police unlawfully arrested and choked man then tried to delete footage, watchdog finds 2 months ago:
Yes there is he will likely face the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission, an independent body, and be investigated internally by NSW police. Fucking with evidence is also a big no no and cops have been charged for attempting to destroy body cam footage among other things before. If NSWPol refer him to DPP he is likely cooked.

Doesn’t justify the racism that allowed it to proliferate nor cunts like Alan Jones but not bringing these up in any discussion around the riots is poor journalism.

- Comment on NSW Police Approval Of Neo-Nazi Parliament Rally Outrages Community 4 months ago:
No argument here. Even if they didn’t; the moment they realise it was a rally of dudes clad in all black with their faces covered; they should have issued move on orders. Yep, it violates the inciting racial hatred act. It worth pointing out that maybe if “slipped passed them” but my doubting that aside, incompetence is not a defence; as any cop will tell you.
The commissioner said he would review that decision and added he did not know the protest was taking place due to an internal “communication error”, and that he had failed to brief the government.
ABC.

Yeah whoever approved this needs to be sacked. Pro Palestine protests get scrutinised but literal nazis get approved. Get fucked.
