I’m also just sick of having so many separate apps when something very simple is needed. Still sorting out some bugs but I will release it to for docker installs eventually.

I tried a lot of apps and didn’t like any of them. So I used AI to slop code a rss feed of my audiobooks folder. Very very simple setup and doesn’t require an additional phone app. You get to use your favorite podcast app too.

If you’re at all into credit card churning Amex business gold has a new $150 square space credit that can be used for domains. You can prepay for up to 10 years. Their rates are high ($20 for .com) but it’s fake money.

In a very similar situation to you 4 years ago and we eventually just went with a community Facebook page because it’s what most people are already on and use. I hate it. Not a good answer but even discord was too niche. Only 59 homes in my community though. You may have more luck with larger groups.
Also, community building has mostly been a flop. That stuff is hard.

Jellyfin setup is fairly effortless. They have a very long way to catch up on apps though. That’s all that’s keeping me in plex.

I have the same setup as you and just pay the Premium. One thing I would recommend is getting isponsorblocktv on your server. It skips the ad reads within the YouTube content and works on Apple TV. Every year or so I look for a tracker doing YouTube or a sonarr YouTube fork. The instinct to hoard data is strong. But none have worked consistently for me.
