@KentNavalesi @archaeology the Cambridge paper is a fascinating read, especially the second half, where they get past the science and technology of the discovery and discuss the context.
"The churches in Africa were powerhouses of early-medieval Christendom, and the African Abbot Hadrian who joined Archbishop Theodore in Canterbury in the later seventh century played a fundamental role in the practical establishment of Christianity in England (Lapidge 2004)."
