Ubisoft codified a certain style of open world design that many other AAA releases were using as a template. He’s right, you can’t deny the impact the franchise had.

I also make sure in to visit the easter egg shrine everytime I’m playing the appartment section.
I feel like Remedy has a knack for that.
They definetely do, always a treat to explore their spaces.

Is this the main menu that looks like a dialogue encounter, or is it a dialogue encounter in the game that suddenly acts like a main menu?

- Comment on 'Valve does not get anywhere near enough criticism': DayZ creator Dean Hall says the 'gambling mechanics' of Valve's monetization strategy 'have absolutely no place' in videogames 1 week ago:
You share that opinion with the many libertarians in this world, but unfortunately it is not that simple (and has not that much to do with financial privilege). I know it is en vogue to dismiss scientific insight, but sociology, psychology and medicine paint a very complex picture with many internal and external risk factors.
Exposing children and young adults to a gambling system with a very low entry barrier in a space that is hard for parents/guardians to oversee means malevolently accepting that you‘ll turn some of them into addicts that would not be otherwise.
If you are not an addict, that just means that you haven‘t been in the right (wrong) situation (yet). That of course is a true privilege.

You should educate yourself on how addiction works if you don’t want to sound like an idiot yourself.

If you want to hate on this you could at leasdt argue that the games that will not be killed are crap in the first place because they are shitty live service games.

I thought you were right and even in the case of boomer shooter you could argue „well it was made by some boomers“ but this is a game from 2007, fuck that.

I don‘t think Silksong posed a threat to their success. They are already doing fine.
- Comment on Hades II - Post-Launch Patch 1 Preview & Notes 2 weeks ago:
It is done, this is a balancing patch. The early access wasn’t “real long”, it started in may 2024 and ended last month with frquent major updates and a completed roadmap. It will also remain a singleplayer game with no multiplayer or live service features.

Very tiny outlets that try to do better should be supported.

I‘d rather read a well articulated opinion that is embedded into a rich cultural context than some rambling from strangers. I know the former is hard to find (Eurogamer and RPS are good, but suffer from layoffs, too). The latter I only skim through to find things I might find distracting that were omitted by others.

Just don’t overdo it. I’m not a native speaker and I don’t know if OP’s post is generated, but the dash in the third bullet point really serves no purpose. The first dash could be replaced with a more appropriate colon.

It‘s ok to want to insult. I don’t have a media server full of digital crap and I don’t pay for a subscription. I simply go to the cinema.

That led me to think, Maybe games need at least a bit of violence.
I mean that thought led to the production of a true valuable gem, but definitely not
