- Comment on OpenAI Says Hundreds of Thousands of ChatGPT Users May Show Signs of Manic or Psychotic Crisis Every Week 2 weeks ago:
Ahh, right, that is what I was getting at. I suspect that the percentage of people who have at some point experienced psychotic symptoms is probably higher than most people realize.
- Comment on OpenAI Says Hundreds of Thousands of ChatGPT Users May Show Signs of Manic or Psychotic Crisis Every Week 2 weeks ago:
While there is some overlap, Bipolar disorder very much does not map 1:1 with people experiencing psychosis. So that isnt very helpful.
- Comment on OpenAI Says Hundreds of Thousands of ChatGPT Users May Show Signs of Manic or Psychotic Crisis Every Week 2 weeks ago:
Sure, but I mean the more important numbers, which would be how this compares to a control sample, or at least comparing it to the overall population. Otherwise this could be less psychosis than expected.
- Comment on OpenAI Says Hundreds of Thousands of ChatGPT Users May Show Signs of Manic or Psychotic Crisis Every Week 2 weeks ago:
I dipped in for this:
In a given week, OpenAI estimated that around 0.07 percent of active ChatGPT users show “possible signs of mental health emergencies related to psychosis or mania” and 0.15 percent “have conversations that include explicit indicators of potential suicidal planning or intent.”

Walmart.com would work fine, as they are rabidly anti-Amazon, especially AWS.

When people ask me about my (former) career, what I usually tell them:
I spent 25 years in Tech, enjoyed endless entertainment, and for a while it brought me a pretty decent living. Despite all this, if there were somehow a magical Big Red Button that would erase the Internet from existence (and memory,) I would smash that button without a second’s hesitation.

- Comment on Scientists "break impossible Century-Old Physics Barrier" with this new research 2 months ago:
A joint team from POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology) and Jeonbuk National University has shown that mechanical waves can be fully trapped inside a single solid resonator. Many researchers thought this was "theoretically impossible" in compact systems. The work was published on April 3 in Physical Review Letters and focuses on bound states in the continuum, or BIC, where waves stay trapped and do not lose energy, even though, in a continuum, there are paths for them to escape.
