- Comment on Valve dev counters calls to scrap Steam AI disclosures, says it's a "technology relying on cultural laundering, IP infringement, and slopification" 1 week ago:
I’ll call your bet and say that Sweeny is right. I think AI will become so commonplace that there will be no way around it and the market has already been streamlined in this direction.
I would love it if my “feels” could be seen. But that is not reality. This battle is already long lost. Lemmy and the like can rage about it til their flames die out but it is a lost cause.

I’m in favor of the disclosures for my own personal reasons, but I see a lot of people who are anti-AI usage based on “vibes” and that does not sit well with me. If people are disregarding the positive benefits of the technology because “vibes”, it makes me doubt the validity of those opinions.

The level people are willing to delude themselves into their poor habit in this thread is breathtaking to me.

I’m seeing a lot of excuses in this thread for their poor habit.

There will be mainstream adoption of Open Source Software but you’re dreaming if you think it will remain free. Marketing alone to get the masses to adopt these options will have a cost that people will be paying for.
- Comment on After Apple originally announced the first version of Halo in 1999, Xbox apparently called Bungie and said "'Steve Jobs can't have that. We're going to buy you.'" 2 weeks ago:
I have only played 1, 3, and Infinite. My halo experience has been great and I never really felt the burnout or lack of innovation.

I have mental health disabilities in the USA and my meds are at zero cost because I literally have had absolute zero income for the past 5 years.
You wouldn’t believe how much those mood stabilizer/antidepressant cocktails stack up proportionally when I was able to scrape by on $15 an hour.
The system set me up to fail with how shitty it is, if healthcare wasn’t crap I could be contributing to society without crippling myself.

I got hit with the ketamine after an episode in the hospital and all I did was start chanting slavery hymns until it wore off and I was normal again. I don’t think Elon’s pathology is due to ketamine as funny as it is to say.

I bought some cubic zirconia earrings and to my surprise when I opened the box there was a little stud on the backside of the jewelry that no one will ever see, but it makes me happy to know it’s there.

Mario Kart 64 is unplayable to me after how much better and intuitively the Karts control in newer games.
I have fond memories of smacking my brother’s controller out of his hand for blue shelling me though.

I use thunderbird but I don’t know what email server to use!! No outlook because fuck Microsoft too, but my Gmail gotta go too if it’s this blatantly intrusive. Who do I use?? I’m too poor to host myself.

Winter? This is how I do it year round. My blow drier is not for my hair (it’s long and takes forever to dry but I don’t want to damage it with heat) it is for my balls, ass and feet.

Metroidvania tag and roguelike tags have become so diluted as descriptors I have no idea what I’m getting anymore when I see them on an “indie title”.
