In Hades II, there is a zone which has sentient gold bag enemies and flood littered with gold. Neither of these things provide you gold apart from standard drop rates.

I’ve been playing it for 10 years off and on with no VR. It is very slow paced but I take that as a pro and not a con. In my opinion it makes sense that flying between bodies takes time.

A lot of my deaths come from accidentally exploding, electrifying, cremating, or goring myself. I love the game for it. A telltale sign of a well-designed game is when failure causes the player to blame themselves and not the game.

Noita is great but damn that game makes me hate myself.

Hah, I picked Elite Dangerous too. You made the right choice — as someone who started off in the genre with Elite Dangerous and has been searching for something to match it for literally a decade I feel qualified to say there is no better option.

Homeworld
Binding of Isaac
Ballistic.NG
Elite Dangerous
Silksong
I feel like this list encapsulates the best of their respective genres.
Homeworld’s mechanics are excellent, as is the art direction, sound design, and story.
There are roguelikes I enjoy playing more than Isaac, but I think it’s breadth, theme, and messaging make it the best pick.
Ballistic.NG is the only racing game that always gives you room to grow without becoming played out, to me.
Elite literally has the whole galaxy to explore, and like Ballistic.NG it has a very rewarding skill curve.
Silksong is a work of art; a Metroidvania so sprawling in its ambition, flawless in its execution, and so punishing in its difficulty that a game-starved society would surely come to view it as a scripture of sorts.

My favorite part of Moby Dick is the chapter titled The Prairie. In it,
Melville basically attributes the size/wrinkles in a forehead to the wisdom/greatness of that being. He says goes on to list influential men with big, wrinkled foreheads (Shakespeare, as an example), compares the undulations in these wise men’s foreheads to the undulations of a prairie and their splendor, and then asks the reader to consider the gravitas of a Sperm Whale’s forehead.
It’s literally the best fucking thing I’ve ever read and it’s crazy that nobody else lauds this passage as I do.

It is the book that completely changed the way I view literature. My favorite book of all time. It is beautiful, funny, bizarre, and tragic.

I can’t speak for the original commenter, but many here on Lemmy will type in unconventional ways so that if the instance gets scooped up by bots and used to train AI the data is harmful instead of beneficial.
I don’t know if it actually has an impact, but it can be fun to participate in data poisoning as an act of subtle resistance.

This is really stupid, and I got the game for free with a GPU, so take this with a grain of salt:
The noise indie makes when he gets knocked down drove me absolutely crazy and was the leading cause of me dropping the game.
I remember seeing the light shine through fascists’ ears if the sun was at the right angle though. I thought that was an awesome detail.

I didn’t learn to drive in a vehicle with a clutch, but I did learn to drive vehicles with clutches! I love manual transmission cars. Been fighting the urge to make a poor financial decision and scoop one up before they’re gone.

I loved the difficulty of silksong, and the movement is so much better than it was in the first game. There is one boss I hated but it is not required to beat the game.
The unguided exploration was a refreshing change of pace for me. So many games just devolve into following a line on a map and it’s refreshing to have an opportunity to really explore. And there are so many nooks and crannies to the world that I was amazed I kept finding new stuff.
That being said, Team Cherry are sadists and it’s apparent in the game design. I understand the game is not for everyone. If you find yourself frustrated, do not shy away from online guides or tips!

I found the combat to be incredibly repetitive, and the story was unsatisfying to me. Have you tried Soma? That sounds like it would scratch your itch, but I haven’t played it.

Seriously, the Wipeout games are incredible. I’ve been thinking about buying another ps4 for that game alone… Sony is doing that ip such a disservice.
Have you played Ballistic.NG and Redout 2?
Redout 2 has the most insane track layouts, hull management, and handling. It’s divisive, but I think that a lot of the hate the game gets is from people who pick it up as their first AG racer.
