Landlord’s brother probably runs the loan place.

- Comment on Insane: Microsoft's latest ad proves how useless Copilot on Windows 11 actually is 5 days ago:
To anyone thinking this is “not such a big deal":
Consider this is one of the most valuable, influential companies on the planet. They’re pushing Copilot like their bottom line depends on it.
Not only did Copilot give an objectively incorrect response - and bringing into question the fundamental usefulness of the feature - I think what’s being glossed over is: They published this.
For a company that’s so desperate to push a clearly half-baked, unwanted feature - publishing an ad showing it malfunctioning is hilariously inept. It’s not just a bad look for the product, it’s an embarrassment for the company.

- Comment on ‘The most violent attack ever documented’: Five female bonobos kill a male, challenging beliefs about the species’ peaceful nature 4 weeks ago:
A similar case occurred years ago, but it was less well documented. The primatologist notes that they can only speculate about the motives: “Why doesn’t infanticide occur within the group among bonobos? Because this is what happens if a male tries it.”

Change your name to make yourself more palatable to a wider audience? Good.
Change your name to make yourself more palatable for yourself? Bad, apparently.

- Comment on Wikimedia sunsets separate mobile domains 2 months ago:
That was pretty standard for a while in web design - traditional "desktop" sites need a radically different layout when viewed from a smartphone, so from the dev side you'd check the size of the screen & redirect the user to the right subdomain for their device.
Nowadays it's not really necessary.

This tells me LibreOffice has become a threat to Microsoft, and I'm here for it.
If anyone else is curious what it's like, LibreOffice's site is here. Highly recommend.
