There’s a Divinity dragon game, too, Divinity: Dragon Commander. It’s a RTS that’s set in the same world, but I rarely hear anyone mention it.

Just finished Dispatch, my 3rd clear of Clover Pit, and I’ve almost beat all the stages with all of the characters in BallXPit.
Looking forward to buying Time Snatcher Handy (I beat the demo twice during NextFest) this week, and I’m still hopping on Remnant 2 at least once a week.
I used to love Lumines on the PSP but Lumines Arise is just not clicking with me, which sucks. I also finally started MGS 3: Delta after sitting on it over a month.

I think the obtuseness is a part of the MH experience. I’ve only played the PSP versions but they also had a “obtuseness” to them that, if it has carried throughout to the newer games, is part of the experience.
That’s not to say you can’t not like it, just based on your description it’s a common part of the game.

Give Spiritfarer a shot, full controller support and even a bit of harvest, fishing, and adventure to boot. 30 hours easy if you take your time, more if you want. Super chill game.

I’d also recommend Invisible Inc., it’s a top down stealth and kinda puzzle game that I played a lot when it was called Incognita. Completely single player with lots of replayability

Make sure you try to get both Toejam & Earl games, although diehards will swear the 1st one is better than the 2nd one. I also recommend the Batman & Robin side scrolling beat em up, not only was it fun but it had a banger soundtrack.
I’m not certain if you got the version compatible with the Sega CD but if you can locate one there were several ports of Genesis games to it. Eternal Champions was better on it because it had actual CGI and better animations, the Batman game was baller and, of course, there was Sonic CD as well.
