- Comment on How to access home network (eg, VPN) without port forwarding? 6 days ago:
Chiming in to say: I’ve had issues in the past where the WiFi router was factory resetting itself and it turned out this can happen if the power supply isn’t powerful enough for the device. In this case, I think I had gotten the WiFi router 2nd hand from Goodwill or something, and the provided power supply fit in the port, and it had the same voltage was an amp off, instead of being something like 12 volts 3.5amps, the plug was supplying 12v 2.5 amps, and I guess everything was fine until the init needed lore power (likely from routing high amounts of traffic, or more WiFi units connected)
I had no idea factory resetting could be the effect or something like this so I was at a loss for a while until I found the info online.
- Comment on How bad of an idea is it to use computing HDDs in a DIY NAS? 1 week ago:
I think this stuff sort of depends on how often you upgrade drives. I bought 2 4TB drives in 2016 running in a ZFS mirror, spinning 24/7 as I had heard that the hardest time on a spinning disk is the initial spin up from cold boot, or sleep. (I’m not sure is this if true anymore, but I had disabled sleep on the drives, regardless)
4 years later, I bought 2 10TB drives to upgrade my storage capacity, and relocated the 4TB mirror to media content, and stuff that was replaceable if the drives failed, so I didn’t need to really back it up.
Juuust now, at the end of 2025, 1 of the initial 4 TB drives failed and now my ‘old’ SDS mirror is in a decreased state running on 1 drive, but the drive lasted almost 10 years.
I bet they average home lab or self holster is probably upgrading and replacing their drives with higher capacity more often than 10 years, so they probably wpuld never actually see a drive fail in real life use.

I appreciate the link, I’ll look into it, thanks!
- Comment on Overseerr & Jellyseerr to merge into Seerr 3 weeks ago:
Explain how you think that would help.
- Comment on Overseerr & Jellyseerr to merge into Seerr 3 weeks ago:
Right, but the debrid services handle torrenting, you send the torrent file and it downloads it for you, and shows up in your movies/shows folder when youojnt then with rclone. So all I would need this to do is send the requested torrent to the debrid URL instead of to the whatever does the actual downloading in the *arrs stack
- Comment on Overseerr & Jellyseerr to merge into Seerr 3 weeks ago:
Anyone know if you can integrate this with a real-debrid account or similar service? I’ve been enjoying using real-debrid since I don’t have to worry about storing the stuff I’m watching.

Huh, haven’t heard of Bezelbub mod, I’ll have to check if its compatible with DevilutionX the open source reimplementation of Diablo 1. I played DevilutionX on my steamdeck, but got stuck in beginning of nightmare as my character wasn’t powerful enough to continue.

Apparently they will try to connect to open networks and try to tunnel through to get internet, so I set bogus manual DNS, gateway, and ip info so it can’t connect to anything correctly.

People call it early morning. I dunno what to say dude. You’re fighting against how long? of established nomenclature
- Comment on Midnight is a stupid time for the clock to roll over to the next day 2 months ago:
I forget which exact midnight represents, but the immediate second after midnight would be the ‘morning’ of the next day. If you’re born at 12:00:01 am or 00:0:01 in military time, then you’d be born the next day.
- Comment on The Untold Story of the Nintendo Entertainment System 2 months ago:
No doubt, I can separate the historical significance of something, from my feelings. The NES was amazing for the gaming industry, and changed history forever. But I still hate Nintendo, lol
- Comment on The Untold Story of the Nintendo Entertainment System 2 months ago:
Such a shame, I grew up with Nintendo’s products starting with the SNES, and loved them. Unfortunately they’re such a terrible company to their own fans, I now absolutely hate them. I will probably never buy another product from them again.
- Comment on Nearly all of Spotify has been scraped and is available via torrents 2 months ago:
I guess it’s easier packaged in a torrent rather than individual downloads, but I do question why anyone would need this if all they were doing was training AI, as everything is already available on YouTube for free. You don’t need to hack a company to get the audio. Now if you’re a human trying to actually listen to the songs, obviously the Spotify torrent will sound much better, assuming the hack captured the higher quality audio streams from Spotify.

I’ve been waiting for these games for about 15 years, both SkyBlivion and SkyWind. Sadly I’m probably not at the age anymore that I would realistically have time to sit down and play these open ended games again. I’m really bummed about that after waiting all this time, but each year that goes by I’m less and less excited about these games getting released, I just don’t have the desire to play them anymore.

I guess I should put more mindfulness into how I’m consuming restaurant food then, lol either way I think we can put this hypothetical to bed.
- Comment on 3 months ago:
I’m commenting on literally being watched though, so let’s say you get up to go to the bathroom after your first bite the chef marks that as ‘didn’t like his burger’ because you took a bite (watched 1 episode) and didn’t continue to binge eat the burger (binge the whole season by the end of the month), BAM because you had a life event you couldn’t control, you now hate the burger and hate the show.
This is not a fun way to consume anything.
- Comment on 3 months ago:
The thing I hated about Netflix was the stress of knowing i was being watched with my viewing habits and that affected how they decided to cancel or continue shows.
Imagine being a customer at a restaurant and the chef is in the back watching you eat, saying things like:
“well, if he doesn’t eat the whole thing in less than 10 minutes that means he probably hated it and won’t continue to buy more burgers, so we should just remove it from the menu now and never server that burger again.”
Who the fuck wants to ‘relax’ and watch stuff when i know if I start watching something and stop after episode 1 because I liked it, realize my partner might also like it, and I wait 3 months to watch it together, knowing that might contribute to Netflix canceling a show that I fucking liked in the first place!
SO RELAXING GUYS!

The maintainer set the whole repo to private. There’s some more to it, but the maintainer didn’t choose to share any info with the public, and it makes it seem highly suspicious what their intention and motivations are/were with the codebase.
- Comment on While we eagerly await the second coming of Steam Machines, it's worth remembering what a gloriously awful mess Valve got itself in over a decade ago 3 months ago:
I bought from ebay for $150 in 2016 that someone I think tried to pass off the yellow ring of death to me, as the system failed shortly after I bought it, BUT, it was still under original manufacturer warranty. I sent it in to dell with no proof of purchase requested from me, they sent my system back fixed, and accidentally gave me another steam controller in the box back, haha.
After getting it back, I wiped windows and have been running Ubuntu on it since then. Still using it as a HTPC right now, though it is getting long in the tooth for web video like YouTube, etc. Probably gonna be replacing it soon with something else.

Yup. You’ve made it clear you hate them.
- Comment on Valve Announces New Steam Machine, Steam Controller & Steam Frame 3 months ago:
Not who you asked, but I use them for PC games that were built for keyboard and mouse. The track pads on the steamdeck are excellent for emulating a mouse. Baldur’s Gate 2, Dungeon Siege, Neverwinter Nights, Morrowind, etc.
- Comment on Valve Announces New Steam Machine, Steam Controller & Steam Frame 3 months ago:
Yeah, I feel like the steam controller was a little hard to get used to, the touchpads always felt a little off, but the steamdeck’s touchpads (and presumably the steam controller 2’s touchpads) are absolutely perfect.
