Yeah, the only surprise any more is whether it’s just going to be the usual fraud, or some new creative type of scam I haven’t seen yet.

Either they conned the government org in charge of purchasing it, or that org just didn’t care enough to look deeper. They got a professional-looking demo that made it look like the tech worked, and signed the contract without a second thought.

AI = Actually Indians
- Comment on AI Surveillance Startup Caught Using Sweatshop Workers to Monitor US Residents 4 days ago:
The term “AI” has been misused and misrepresented so much that it’s more of an aesthetic than a technology now.
- Comment on Do you ever feel like your life is "scripted"? Like everything is written by some entity controlling your life? Like you live in a fictional universe? Is this feeling normal/common? 5 days ago:
I don’t feel like my life is scripted per se, but sometimes I’ll be talking to someone and all of the sudden it feels like someone else has taken control of my body and is doing all the talking while I just sit back and watch. I have to concentrate to get back in control.
- Comment on builder.ai has been tricking customers and investors for eight years – selling an advanced code-writing AI that, it turns out, is actually an Indian software farm employing 700 human developers 5 days ago:
That sounds like a perpetual motion machine.

- Comment on Linus Torvalds is surprisingly optimistic about vibe coding - except for this one 'horrible' use 3 weeks ago:
The proof is in the pudding. When/if “vibe code” gets good enough that it can pass a Turing test (be indistinguishable from human-written code), then it will earn its place in the kernel. I think that day is pretty far off though.

- Comment on Why Are There Fourth Notes in Bars That Only Count to Three? 5 weeks ago:
Quarter notes should be called “beat notes” or something, since they’re equal to one beat in the measure.

Akshually, modern birds are descended from dinosaurs, effectively making them dinosaurs themselves. So humans did, and still do, live with dinosaurs.

- Comment on how do school shooters know how to use guns? 2 months ago:
You can learn how to use almost any gun in about five minutes. Have a friend or family member that lets you take some practice shots in their backyard? Now you know enough to be dangerous.
