- Comment on YSK that Stanford scientists examined what happens when people stop using social media. They found deactivating Facebook and Instagram significantly improved users' emotional well-being and happiness 3 days ago:
I deleted my FB, Instagram, and Twitter when I joined the fediverse in June of 2023. So far the only thing I miss are FB event invites. Now my friends have to specially message me for events they put together. Otherwise it’s been a great change.

@Passerby6497@lemmy.world asked why the two were in the meme. It’s distracted boyfriend meme. Their inclusion in the meme only makes sense if you know they’re dating. Your reply seems a bit harsh.

And additional context I’d the two of them are dating: yahoo.com/…/kylie-jenner-picking-timothee-chalame…

With your explanation I can almost see that. Is it in the context of her laying down receiving a massage or something?

I just read the article and apparently the screaming housewife of Beverly hills pictured is screaming because her abusive husband committed suicide apparently?

Haha no worries at first I was going to reply with a quote from the article but when I realized just how short it is it kinda didn’t make sense to do so
- Comment on I will just leave this here.... 3 weeks ago:
Yes. The “article” is 9 sentences long and explains the implications quite clearly.
- Comment on Browser Fingerprinting And Why VPNs Won’t Make You Anonymous 4 weeks ago:
I believe so. Librewolf uses letterboxing for websites by default to mimic a larger set of device resolutions to resist fingerprinting, for example, and the window opens non-maximized every time

Imagine buying a “Pro” laptop that can’t even play HEVC videos without software transcoding. This is insane penny pinching and infuriating

- Comment on Does anyone know what's inside this building? 5 weeks ago:
TIL, thanks! My first thought was that it might’ve been a telephony exchange center, data center, or other networking infrastructure hub. There’s a building in my city colloquially referred to as “the bunker” built with a similar hardened brutalist style that houses all the main network trunk connections for our state.

Same, this actually matches OP’s obtuse description quite well! Also this song is a banger

During the pandemic I remember being in a weeklong Zoom PD in-service and one participant had their smoke detector beeping every 60 seconds the entire time. I cannot imagine living with that and not changing the battery; I would go totally insane! It was bad enough hearing it over Zoom every time they talked.

- Comment on Why are fruits and berries healthy, even though they are mostly just sugar? 2 months ago:
Eating a few pounds of grapes in a day is probably a bad choice
I have IBS and since grapes are FODMAPs (in high quantities) I should only eat like a handful at a time otherwise they can cause uncomfortable stomach cramping and diarrhea for me 😔

Very inspirational, thanks for sharing! What mineral slurry would you consume, if you don’t mind me asking? I quit cigarettes 8 years ago cold turkey no issues, I’m currently trying to muster willpower to wean myself off of cannabis, but binging food when I’m at home is still something I have not had much luck with yet.

I have a Synology that does everything I need it to do and it is very simple and reliable. The new ones will restrict what hard drives they are compatible with to only HDDs certified by Synology, so I would not recommend one of those ones
