That’s the same excuse people who hit their kids use. You could have turned out even better, with better care and education.
As for tracking nappy changes, it can help with assessing any health issues and tracking long term trends, it’s useful for toileting as we can see how frequently and volume of accidents to help understand their needs for prompting, it’s useful for parents to know if for example they’re going out straight away and need to change before hand, and it’s useful for child protection (our records show that this educator changed the nappy at the time of the incident etc).
- Comment on Incident 1 week ago:
No, that’s not sufficient. I’m sorry you were let down by the educational standards at the time.

Lego is an anti-family company.

Yes.
The current advice I’m given in Australia these days is that it’s better for children to sleep and be monitored than kept up and to become exhausted.
If we had genuine belief that a child had a concussion and not just hit themselves on a fall (happens daily), we would ask for the child to be collected by parents.

Management can not just slot in to replace an educator.
Especially not when you have 6 rooms of adults picking their kids up after finishing work at 5.
The simple matter of fact is there is not enough time to talk to ~20 families each evening and give a summary of their kids day.
- Comment on Incident 1 week ago:
We log this information for a whole host of reasons. Many parents sadly don't get the chance to speak to an educator in depth to discuss their kids day, tracking medical needs, etc. A lot of parents don't even look at this, but it's useful to have if it's ever needed.
My only complaint, and this extends to all the genuinely important paper work we have to do is that we never get enough time to be off floor to do it.

When have they ever done what the majority of you want?
- Comment on Most people's earliest memories are at around 3 or 4 years of age, which correlates with the age kids start asking "why" for everything. Kids start asking why when they become self-aware. 1 month ago:
I work with babies under 1, even they can point to pictures to “ask” me to name them. Knowing others know stuff is basic.
Theory of Mind isnt something we use in my field, but from a quick glance it’s knowing other people have minds, that they have their own desires, feelings, thoughts, etc not that they know information.
In ECEC terms we would think of that as the end of their egocentric stage. Usually seen around 1-3.

The Western Bulldogs have bribed/lobbied the local council to scrap the requirement that they must have a not-for-profit childcare centre.
This move will allow the Western Bulldogs to steal money from Australians via increased fees and the kickback they receive from a future for-profit provider.

I could have, and I still have the old Lemmy server around to do so if I wanted but it wasn’t deemed worth the effort. It was mostly world news, and who reads old news.
- Comment on Just started a community for those who wish to move away from Lemmy 2 months ago:
PieFed not PixelFed.
PieFed is like kbin/lemmy.

Those are all optional choices for instances.
So what you're saying is that they have a Social Credit Karma system like Reddit does? I already hate it.
Not that I'm aware of, members can see what percentage others vote (i.e. do you vote 100% downvotes?) but that's about it. Mods and admins can see a reputation metric, but that's not forward facing to the public and simply a way for bad faith actors to be flagged.
Upvotes in meme communities do not add to reputation.
You can set it on a per instance or community scale as to if votes count, if you only accept votes from your instance, etc. It's actually a really handy option to have, maybe you want a community for only local members to vote on policy etc, well now you can filter it so only they can vote in here.
(piefed has no modlog as far as I can tell)
Admins can turn it on/off, I've turned it on for my instance.

At the moment, you basically have to restart it all with a fresh install of PieFed on your server.
They are working on features options to transfer over and copy the content etc, but that may be many months away still.

Not that you would want to look any where else of course, but...
filter by software.

We just moved our instance over to PieFed over the weekend.
If anyone is looking for a smaller PieFed instance away from the bigger players, we'd love to have you here at quokk.au.

To not support genocide denying, transphobic, authoritarian developers.
We're still all on the same Fediverse able to communicate, we're just using more 'ethical' software.
