Just throwing this out to the void, it’s now over $400.
- Comment on Why do big people wear the tiniest shit especially at rallys or riots? Like on Jan 6 I saw a bunch of big stupid people have on bullet proof vest that was only maybe 6inch by 6inch or tinier? 1 week ago:
Ignoring the bulletproof vests for a moment, they usually have the clothes from before they got that big. It’s not like your habits suddenly change, they’re usually always slowly growing until something clicks and they go on a diet.
- Comment on Why is ethanol so tasty? 2 weeks ago:
Fascinating, I drink alcohol solely to get drunk. Absolutely hate the taste. There are levels to it of course, I prefer bourbon to scotch for example. But none of it, shy of the fruity (usually) drinks that cover up the alcohol flavors, do i actually enjoy drinking.
Different strokes I guess.
- Comment on Wearing a helmet and a hat while biking 2 weeks ago:
Would it look stupid to place the cap on the handlebars
No.
or clip the cap into the strap of the helmet to carry it while riding?
Yeah kinda, I’m imagining it hanging from your face?
If you have a snap back kind of hat, yeah just attach it anywhere on the bike I’d say, or depending what you’re wearing, to you in some way. Don’t over think it.

Including an unredacted version of emails that had been leaked (which prompted this release) with the victim redacted. But you know, the reason they didn’t release anything else before was to protect the victims… until it’s better for Trump if they do.

I guess you’re not wrong, but we do see digital things disappear constantly and without warning. If no one backed up that data it’s gone forever.
- Comment on Steam Hardware [new Steam Controller, Steam Machine, and VR headset Steam Frame, coming in 2026] 3 weeks ago:
Half life alyx was a solid game and I would expect valve to release another VR game for this things release. Even if not, there’s good stuff out nowadays.
Although I don’t get the motion sickness that people have mentioned so maybe I have more options.

The VR looks interesting. I had bought the HP reverb G2, but Microsoft pulled the plug on windows mixed reality, and I’ve since moved to Linux, so this might be a good replacement.

At the moment, not much. I’m trying to learn more and more and do more and more, really it’s just that I paid for 64, but then the seller and I both fucked up and I’m still at 32 now, which bugs me. Then at that same exact time frame, the prices skyrocketed.
- Comment on Bewildered enthusiasts decry memory price increases of 100% or more — the AI RAM squeeze is finally starting to hit PC builders where it hurts 4 weeks ago:
At this point, I originally paid for 64 so I’m trying to get there out of principal, and I’d be there if I paid more attention.
I like to dick around with my nerd stuff and I did have the pc lock up because I used all of the 32gb ram, but I suspect 64 would’ve had the same issue in that particular instance.
In either case, my last pc buy was a decade ago, where 16GB was more than you’d need. If prices are reasonable again, getting myself to 64GB would just make sure I’m set for another decade, probably.

This seems like an appropriate place for me to bitch:
2 months ago I bought a new pre-built pc. It should’ve had 64gb of ram but had 32gb. They said the sticks they used were out of stock so they gave me a credit for $100 USD. I spent the 100 on 32gb more of what I thought was the exact same ram. I fucked up and bought a slightly higher speed so they wouldn’t work together after I tried for an afternoon. I also checked the correct listing i should’ve bought but it was more expensive, at about $125.
I gave up and decided I’d just buy the faster ram again when it came back, rather than return it and get the correct one. It went out of stock in the time it took me to get my order so I figured I’d just wait.
2 MONTHS later, it never came back in stock but an almost identical pair, with slightly different timing, is in stock right now at $216. If i had any idea this was coming in just 2 months, I could’ve just bought 64gb at once and started fresh, or corrected my mistake by returning what I bought.
So i guess I’ll continue waiting, but hey at least notepad has copilot in it.

In the context of someone really asking, and not just joking around, yes you should be honest. Sounds like you’ll be on the path to showing them so don’t lie.
- Comment on Does anyone else notice an up tick in hostility on Lemmy lately? 1 month ago:
For me it’s everywhere. I still come to these things out of habit or because i don’t have energy for a regular hobby, but it’s getting draining. All of social media just brings me back to politics, even if funny memes are in between. I also have a habit of reading comments, and then some dingus brings the one non political thing back down to politics anyway.

I am judging a book by it’s cover here, but they said they’re not tech savvy, and asked the question in the post, so my assumption is that they themselves do not own one.

Yeah but a while back they capped your monthly hours for the paid tiers to 100 (i think you pay to keep streaming after). I was easily averaging 3 hours a day as a kid, especially with weekends and summer vacations.
- Comment on Disney+ cancellation page crashes as customers rush to quit after Kimmel suspension 2 months ago:
On one hand, could be a “crash”. On the other hand, tons of websites break when they get a little extra traffic.
Side tangent, seems odd to me this is still a thing. Most company websites aren’t hosted on premises, so do these services like (i assume) AWS not scale for when there’s traffic? Squarespace has been advertising for years that it will scale up if there’s extra traffic. I’ve never tested it but still.

What would you call someone with the beliefs that they’ve mentioned then? I agree, I don’t know of a current “conservative” political group/party that follows that idea anymore but what word better explains how they actually want things?
