- Comment on Why are people using the "þ" character? 1 week ago:
For me it makes the text MUCH harder to read. Basically, instead of just quickly “scanning” the text I need to stop and consciously decipher words with this character.
When I read words I know I don’t read them letter by letter, I just recognize the entire “shape” instantly. The thorn throws this mechanism off completely for me.

I don’t like calling them an iditot just because of that but I have to admit I find this incredibly annoying.

Yeah, it’s both funny and terrifying how cubicles were a symbol of a dystopia, and now, with open space offices, people would kill for the cubicles.

I think Linkwarden is fantastic but should be described and advertised more as internet archiving software than a bookmark manager. It really should be obvious to anyone that it’s downloading the webpages, not just saving links. I

I second this. Very light, feature-rich, configurable and works flawlessly. I use it for ad blocking, proxying all DNS requests to DoT upstreams, and local addresses in LAN and over Wireguard.

I always wanted to play with those cool pipettes you see in lab stock photos and videos. I don’t even know why but they just seem so cool.

Yes, that’s why I’m asking questions and not bashing this person for using an LLM.

How could you catch hallucinations without checking this information with another source? Or is it the case that coming up with a correct search phrase was the hard part so when you already had the explanation it was easier to search for it? But at that point quoting the other source instead of LLM would be an obvious choice for me.

So I struggle with something similar and it turns out it’s because I’m autistic. Maybe you are neurodivergent too? If you decide to consider this idea, I recommend to check out content where neurodivergent people talk about their condition. I would never consider I might be autistic just using descriptions by neurotypicals, the difference is huge.
Now, about your actual question… I don’t really have a perfect solution. I personally use marijuana. I usually plan the time to take a break from all the projects and learning at the end of the day. I make sure all the important chores are already taken care off. Weed definitely does help but I see how it’s far from a perfect solution. Ideally, you wouldn’t rely on any external substance for your wellbeing.
Many people recommend meditation as a way to regain control of racing thoughts. I was never able to make that work though. Whenever I try I just start working on one of my projects in my head…
Good luck!
