- Comment on Proton Mail Suspended Journalist Accounts At Request Of Cybersecurity Agency 3 days ago:
Important details from the Reddit comment:
Hi everyone,
No, Proton did not knowingly block journalists’ email accounts. Our support for journalists and those working in the public interest has been demonstrated time and again through actions, not just words.
In this case, we were alerted by a CERT that certain accounts were being misused by hackers in violation of Proton’s Terms of Service. This led to a cluster of accounts being disabled.
Because of our zero-access architecture, we cannot see the content of accounts and therefore cannot always know when anti-abuse measures may inadvertently affect legitimate activism.
Our team has reviewed these cases individually to determine if any can be restored. We have now reinstated 2 accounts, but there are other accounts we cannot reinstate due to clear ToS violations.
Regarding Phrack’s claim on contacting our legal team 8 times: this is not true. We have only received two emails to our legal team inbox, last one on Sep 6 with a 48-hour deadline. This is unrealistic for a company the size of Proton, especially since the message was sent to our legal team inbox on a Saturday, rather than through the proper customer support channels.
The situation has unfortunately been blown out of proportion without giving us a fair chance to respond to the initial outreach.

Yeah, he owned it and made it work. I agree it’s one of, if not the most, honest of all his songs in the show.
Plus the people in the pærk are like family so it’s all water under the fridge.

Before you disrespect J R-O-C, it could happen to you cause it happened to me and T.

Excellent report! Glad it worked out and was a false alarm.
- Comment on How the rise of Craigslist helped fuel America’s political polarization 3 weeks ago:
Let’s not forget his high achievement of winning a Golden Razzie award for his terrible performance as….himself. Yes, he achieved worst supporting actor playing himself. Not only that the movie itself is a perverted B- dumpster fire.
Just to be clear, I’m not saying this is anywhere near as serious compared to the points you’ve made. Those are truly harmful things done to others. To know he was in such a low ranked movie and had the worst performance of everyone in it while trying to portray himself brings a bit of joy.

What the hell does he know about real life and disadvantages? I’ll be without them for life. At least anything Meta or the like have a hand in. Poor me. 😄

May North Korea (or anyone really) steal every bit of it. They pulled off the largest single bitcoin heist so far earlier this year. How difficult could this bozo’s crypto be for them?

With all the price hikes because of pointless tariffs it’s not doable to pay taxes to the government.
- Comment on Reddit users in the UK must now upload selfies to access NSFW subreddits 1 month ago:
Even though LemmyNSFW is outside of the UK the admins of any instance will be responsible for verification of UK users because of this law. This is why .zip (Lemmy and PieFed) have geoblocked the UK. It’s a lot of work and responsibility to take on.
Here’s the post from DemiGodrick explaining this situation better than I can.

Grok 4 seems to consult Elon Musk to answer controversial questions
They tried it out themselves and have reports from other users as well.

The only way I know is the method described above and that requires access to your account, sorry to say. Unfortunately that’s no longer possible.

Awesome stuff! Sorry for contributing to the import slow down, twice, since I have a piefed.zip account too. I wouldn’t have guessed those imports would cause such a strain.
Be well and enjoy your holiday.
- Comment on More microplastics in glass bottles than plastic: study 2 months ago:
They say the glass bottles have plastic caps and that’s the source for this type of container. I can’t understand why those same caps on plastic bottles have less contamination.
Are the caps lined differently on the inside when dealing with plastic or glass?

Yes it’s a handy feature. You should be up and running soon enough. :)

You can log in to your lemm.ee account, settings and look for “Import/Export Settings”, then save the .json file to your device. Then log into your db0 account, go to the same Import/Export Settings and upload your .json file.
All of your saved posts, blocked people/ communities/instances will be transferred. If it doesn’t all show up immediately don’t be concerned, sometimes it takes a little while.

Happy birthday Lemmy.zip! 🎂🎉🥳
I’m new to this instance but after Reddit I spent a few months on Kbin, then just shy of two years on Lemm.ee.
The Fediverse has come a long way thanks to a lot of time and hard work by the admins, mods and anyone else helping along the way.
Congratulations, and here’s to many more years!

Nice list! Thank you for sharing here.
The one entry in the Food list (Zalasur) has the description “Game playthroughs with no commentary” which matches Vitekc45c’s under the Gaming section.
After visiting Zalasur’s page their description is “Videos featuring my cooking and canning adventures.”

Hello! The warm welcome is appreciated! I’m a lemm.ee member who’s sad to see that instance being closed. Thankfully I’ve found this fine place.
ZippyBot got the job done for me by sending both a DM and email.
Thanks and I’ll see you out there.
