My head canon vis a vis Uhura is that 1) she has trained with La’an on tactical back in season 1 and 2) the sound feedback on the coms machine probably did a number on the Andorians antennae and therefore on their internal balance like an extended flashbang granade.

I’m not sure the Casablanca esque sing off really worked, but I did like the episode overall.

I think the meme of regime instability is justified. In between the five Republics there were also several other regimes like the Consulate, 1st Empire, Restoration, 100 Days, Second Restoration, July Monarchy, 2nd Empire, and Vichy.
