My previous account was @dumblederp@aussie.zone I left it because Rowling has turned out to be a pretty shitty person and I don’t want the association.
Mostly I’m just here for idle friendly conversation over shared interests.
I can get caught up in my own stubbornness on some topics.
- Comment on Australia’s new physical activity guidelines won’t shift the needle – here are 4 better ideas 2 days ago:
- Redirect road funds to walking and cycling
Now with the fuel crisis is the perfect time to embrace cycling infrastructure. I mean 20 years ago was also the perfect time.

- Comment on Are users who openly parrot literal Nazi talking points allowed here? 1 week ago:
Seagoon’s not a Nazi or promoting Nazi shit. I’ve seen them posting here and on reddit for years now. Something has been taken out of context.

- Comment on 'We've reached a breaking point': Is it time to tax older Australians more? 1 week ago:
Can we start with tightening/closing the tax/finance loopholes being abused. Negative gearing, capiital gains tax, mineral resource rent tax. There’s plenty of stuff in the system we can clean up.
- Comment on Fatbikes are wreaking havoc in Sydney's wealthy beach suburbs 1 week ago:
Fat bikes is just the wheel size. These are high powered e-moto bikes.

- Comment on Why some Australians are spending $35,000 a year on food delivery apps 2 weeks ago:
My friend asked how often I got delivery. “More thna 5, less than 10.” I answered. He was surprised to find out that was my total, ever. Probably just over ten these days, less than 15 for sure.
- Comment on Public health advocates say more transparency needed in debate over illicit tobacco as industry links questioned 3 weeks ago:
It’s not the high, it’s the strength of the addiction. Nicotine is hard to kick. This has been known about since the English landed at what’s become Virginia in the USA. Tobacco has a long history of being used as an addictive trade good. There’s a great book by Iain Gately - La Diva Nicotina: The Story of How Tobacco Seduced the World. Which covers the history of tobacco.
- Comment on Australian health insurance premiums just had their biggest hike in a decade. Is it time to scrap private health cover? 3 weeks ago:
It’s always been time to scrap private health cover. Disgusting that it was ever introduced.
- Comment on Ban under-16s from riding ebikes and e-scooters then require a driver’s licence, Queensland inquiry to recommend 3 weeks ago:
They’re great devices. I’m for any legislation that allows the legal public use of them. Ridiculous that I can be trusted with a 1000+ cc motorbike but not a 3kw e-moto.

e-bikes and e-motos are great and we need legislation to allow their use.
- Comment on ‘The whole family is destroyed’: Australia’s inheritance disputes aren’t just increasing – they’re becoming messier 4 weeks ago:
I stopped talking to my father because he didn’t pass on a portion of the inheritance like my grandparents intended. He’s a piece of shit in many ways that I was accustomed to but that broke the relationship for me.

It sounds like they have shaken their woman problem. /s
- Comment on Communities for each state and territory 4 weeks ago:
I don’t think we’re a big enough community to support it. The frugal and gardening communities championed by @melbabouttown barely see any action. I think most of it can be put into this community until it needs some division.
- Comment on Health star rating to become mandatory on all packaged food in Australia 4 weeks ago:
Having an “entire packet” column would be useful for when someone eats the whole tub of ice cream or packet of biscuits. Eg, last time I checked a large Big M counted as two serves.

Sunnies, a hat and pay cash.

- Comment on New video sheds light on beginning of altercation between police officers and a Town Hall protester 5 weeks ago:
Doesn’t seem to add any more context at all. Cops still look like a bunch of cunts keen to throw punches. I doubt that guys shirt survived such treatment either, shirts are fragile.
- Comment on 'It was agony': Grandparents injured in Sydney anti-Herzog protest 5 weeks ago:
Very disturbing that the police can tick a few boxes and have liability waived. They should always be liable for their actions with the powers they’re given.
