- Comment on Tim Cook and Sundar Pichai are cowards - X’s deepfake porn feature clearly violates app store guidelines. Why won’t Apple and Google pull it? 1 week ago:
It goes earlier than that debacle for me but I honestly do not remember anymore.
If they’ve turned a new leaf then hey good for them.
- Comment on 'Microslop' is heading for Edge – major browser redesign is inspired by Copilot, and it's already seriously unpopular 1 week ago:
I see. I mean I can’t really fault them but it does put the brakes on when I got hit. It still isn’t working to get me to pay, personally.

Oh didn’t know Edge has workspace that functions similar to Firefox multi container. Not that I am going to change to Edge, but it’s still neat.

That’s true too.
- Comment on Why do SO MANY reviews now talk about "phone wobble"? 1 week ago:
I care. I fucking hate phone wobble.

I thought hover play functionality can be turned off in youtube settings?
But as I was typing this, I realised it’s useful for non logged in youtube, I assume.

Agree on waterfox’s android icon looking bland lol. and a lot of icon packs don’t have an icon for waterfox and still not making it despite requests.

Thanks. That story sounds like it’s easy for non techies to relate to.

Do you mind sharing your “script” or bullet points how you tell people about the Recall thing?

I’d like to run local LLM with ethical models some day, if there’s such models.
- Comment on No AI* Here - A Response to Mozilla's Next Chapter - Waterfox Blog 4 weeks ago:
It gets the job done enough to understand the jist for me, yeah. But mostly I only do short posts. A language like Japanese makes it just a lot harder from what I understand from friends that learned the language. IIRC it’s because the language relies on unspoken context and of course its grammar making machine translation trip.
- Comment on No AI* Here - A Response to Mozilla's Next Chapter - Waterfox Blog 4 weeks ago:
Translation is my main use. Yes, the caveat that AI is 50/50 wrong is still there but at least I don’t have to pester friends that know the language for everything. I only use it for unimportant things.
- Comment on It just keeps getting worse - Firefox to "evolve into a modern AI browser" 4 weeks ago:
Zen can still use Firefox sync to sync between desktop and mobile. Just have to use a firefox based mobile browser that didn’t cut out firefox sync. I’m personally use Waterfox on Android, and Zen on Windows. My plan to move to linux by buying a new 2TB SSD is kind of on hold for now…
- Comment on It just keeps getting worse - Firefox to "evolve into a modern AI browser" 4 weeks ago:
While Zen has their own mods page that works better with it, Firefox extensions work well.

I would think Big Pharma will aggressively fight against it.
- Comment on Valve Announces New Steam Machine, Steam Controller & Steam Frame 2 months ago:
I remember hear8ng during the development of the first steam controller, valve have put in a trackball emulator or behavior (whatever it’s called. I’m playing my “English is my second language” card) for the track pads.
I assume they didn’t abandon that and did put it as a configuration for the steam deck, and again still assuming, for the new controller.
If I’m wrong I’m happy to be politely corrected.
Also, hello fellow trackball companion 👋🏾

This is a JoJo Steel Ball Run reference a bit
- Comment on "Valve must stop making excuses": Steam under fire for "significant price disparity for PC games," causing regional pricing that's "often 20% to 30% higher than the dollar equivalent" 3 months ago:
Maybe I’m just misunderstanding the quote, but I’m pretty sure regional pricing have been around at least since 2010s.
Maybe I should RTFA

Can we have /c/assweetascannedbeans as lemmy’s counterpart to reddot’s /r/boneappletea?
- Comment on Superhero stories have become less about saving people and more about fighting villains. 3 months ago:
I recently watched that Superman movie and liked it. I couldn’t figure out exactly why, but I think it is because he’s helping others.
I was a bit hesitant prior because of MCU fatigue, but I’m glad I watched it. MCU ended for me at whenever Thanos was truly defeated. I can’t even remember the movie.
- Comment on What’s the deal with unrelated content platforms trying to add a games section? 3 months ago:
I imagine it’s for when someone want to take a break from doom scorlling and indulge on slop
Recently yahtzee from second wind confessed to playing the YouTube games slop.

Another zetsubou sensei enjoyer, nice.
It is one of my favorite anime and manga series, Top 5 for me. The soundtrack is also a banger.
- Comment on Nintendo reportedly gets even more obnoxious about patent law by taking a 'mods aren't real games' stance against a Dark Souls 3 mod that could invalidate its Palworld lawsuit 3 months ago:
There’s a group of citizens of a nation that supports what Nintendo doing to Palworld devs. Back when I read the noise on Xitter when Nintendo first filed against Palworld, lots of Japanese support it because something something disrespect or some bullshit. It sickens me that they are just lying belly up drinking the shit Nintendo puts out and trying to snuff competition
- Comment on "Very dramatic shift" - Linus Tech Tips opens up about the channel's declining viewership 4 months ago:
The same wsd also reported by Second Wind (old Zero Punctuation) and their experience is the same: way too sudden drop to be anything else except YouTube adjusting their algorithm.
In their video, Yahtzee said it could be related to Restricted Mode on youtube suddenly turns on by itself. Or at least that's their hypothesis, since they checked that if that mode is on, a lot of their videos vanished from their channel.

Yep. I take content from there and post it in Lemmy whenever I can.

And that's okay. That's one of the points for fiction.
It was either just today or yesterday, at some point in the near past, where I read a post of someone bemoaning on reddit (I know I know. Skewer me all you want) the trope of the tall boyfriend coupled with short girlfriend. Got down voted and plenty of post saying that's real also.
Anecdotally, I can confirm that's how my brother-in-law and my sister are lol.
- Comment on Sam Altman admits OpenAI ‘totally screwed up’ its GPT-5 launch and says the company will spend trillions of dollars on data centers 4 months ago:
Someone I know (not close enough to even call an "internet friend") formed a sadistic bond with chatGPT and will force it to apologize and admit being stupid or something like that when he didn't get the answer he's looking for.
I guess that's better than doing it to a person I suppose.
- Comment on There's a YouTube channel called "Touhou Fan Radio" as the name suggests it is a Touhou Radio made by a fan for fans. 4 months ago:
Hmm, I noticed my browser replaced the @ with %40 and truncated the channel name somehow.
Probably whatever youtube forwarding method is breaking things?
