I thought I was smart going back to a video that featured two USB C cable testers. I onky watched the video and didnt check or paid attention what the brand was.
They are, in fact, these exact two brands.

Thanks. Starting easy is fine. At least I now have a place to start from.

I honestly don't see much from the comms I follow (and it's a lot thanks to piefed topics), and when I do browse all, if I find a post from a comm that allows them, I either ignore it or block the comm, for example a genAI art comms.
Idk, lemmy, mbin, piefed, etc isn't reddit with algorithms so it's kind of on the user if they see a lot of it, IMO.

All of those use AI as a way to filter and group information
Is there any resource I can read on or start from that's useful for the average person? Just pointers so I don't go on slop rabbit holes which I'm sure there are a lot of.

Ooh that's pretty neat. I'll have to see how to set up listenbrainz.

Oh yeah I knew of last.fm but haven't checked it out in years. Pretty sure I checked Spotify to scrobble to it.
Have to see how to scrobble to last.fm when I cut out Spotify and idk play local music on my phone and computer.

Bandcamp and SoundCloud does sound better for smaller artists as I understand. Alas I still listen to big artists.

What's the difference between musicbrainz and listenbrainz?
- Comment on If you have cut off mainstream music streaming, how do you discover new music or artists and songs like what you're listening frequently? 2 weeks ago:
Definitely counts for me. I'm deep up to my eyes into vtubers and that's why I use YouTube for theor originals and covers. Some of the indie ones can't/ won't put their originals on Spotify or other major music platform and just YouTube.

I enjoy a few if it comes my way but it's not really my wheelhouse. Thanks for the suggestion!

Really should step into a library again. Last I went to one is during college 10 or more years ago lol.
Good suggestion on local community radio. I'll have to see if there's one in my country/state.

I wish the bigger international bands i listen to would come to my country often. But then it would cost a lot.
But I get you though. I am friends with a weekend band that also has friends with other more "serious" underground bands. Been going to more and more gigs and helping out and actually discovered more songs and bands like this.

DeX for Windows and Linux is gone as far as I understand. DeX is still available if you connect to a monitor though.
I'm happy to be corrected though. I tried searching it since I recall seeing news of it. and my 5 minutes research did found out its discontinued for Windows and Linux as OneUI 7.

Probably still do quite a lot. I still have my account there in case there are calls to promote the fediverse.
They left Digg posts alone for now though. I know it's another boiling pot, dont have to remind me.

Wear a big scarf ... for guys or girls ... a scarf comes in handy for all kinds of emergencies including using it as something to cover your mouth, dress a wound, tie something or cover something up.
Everyone should look up what a shemagh is, and all multitude of uses it has. Pretty sure there are plenty of colors that aren't tacticool, which is inevitable when you search for it. If it works for the grunts the US sent to the Middle East, and actual Middle Eastern cultures, it'll work for you. Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy describes how useful it is to carry a towel across the galaxy; this is it.
- Comment on Why are you here and not on Reddit? 5 weeks ago:
I have no moral reasons like most do really.
I'm just tired of reddit. I'm tired of doomscrolling anything actually. even the fediverse.
I intentionally only seek chill and meme subreddit/comms. and even then some people just can't help tripping themselves shoving negative crap onto meme comms.

it's why I said no to a discord server that I am chronically online in. I don't remember what was the active user count back then, probably just 100. the admins offered a mod position because I'm a good boi. I know I'll get angry at the slightest thing. but i always managed to stop kyself from posting angrily off the cuff. I am not fit to moderate strangers, even if their familiar strangers. dunno how I'd do with a smidgen of power.
I couldn't imagine the stress of moderating even larger network
- Comment on lemm.ee is shutting down at the end of this month 1 month ago:
I mean if you're someone new and then inundated with terrible news every day because you're still getting the hang of moderating your feed by yourself, you're bound to carry negative attitude everywhere else.
reddit can, have been, and will continue to be angry right leaning, and here it's the opposite. I get it, there are matters worth being angry about. but surrounding yourself with it just makes it pointless

Guess I just ask here.
On scaled sorting for my subscribed comms, it's different on the app vs in the web browser. Dunno if this is a bug or intended.
On the app it's showing 2 months old posts. Which I kind of understand from reading the scaled sorting.
