It’s saying 38 is basically the maximum lifespan of a human and the only reason we live past 38 is due to unnatural interventions ie medicines

Life expectancy can be affected by things like infant deaths, disease, etc.
lifespan is the age an animal is designed to live for. The study (which was published in Nature btw) implies that humans reaching past 38 is unnatural and only a result of luck and modern technology.

According to the article it’s not about life expectancy, but that the lifespan of 38 is hardcoded into our DNA/Telomeres

TIL. I’ve heard a similar thing about certain smells being closely tied with the memory centre in the brain.

No, sneezing, as in the photic sneeze reflex. If I look at the sun by accident I’ll sneeze.

Yes. It’s worked very well in the recent Zelda games

Would inclusivity to people with disabilities/medical safety be included in those regulations?

Yeah I really can’t see how they could bring him back in a way that seems plausible. Really enjoyed Carrey’s performance though

I’m skinny and I’ll pass out in less than an hour. Have severe POTS from EDS, heart went into asystole after 35 minutes into a tilt table test and they had to put me back down. I’ve passed out several times in other settings.
- Comment on Low quality cropping will officially launch on Lemmy in 2025 4 months ago:
It can even be dangerous for some people to be in a standing position for too long. I have a severe case of POTS caused by a genetic disorder. My heart stopped during a tilt table test, which is where I was forced to remain in a standing position. If I’m expected to pay more for a normal seat just because I’m disabled, that’s ableism.
- Comment on Low quality cropping will officially launch on Lemmy in 2025 4 months ago:
Why should I have to be forced to pay more for sitting seats just because I have a disability? We shouldn’t be normalising this.
- Comment on Low quality cropping will officially launch on Lemmy in 2025 4 months ago:
What about people like myself who have POTS and can’t be in a standing position for too long? My heart can legit stop causing me to pass out if I’m standing for too long.

Was about to say this too. Can’t tell a difference between most games made in 2013 vs 2023.

I’ve had so many blood tests done when they were trying to figure out what was wrong with me pre POTS/EDS/CFS diagnosis
- Comment on My brain fog makes me feel so stupid that I'm seriously considering trying speed 5 months ago:
You described it so well! That’s exactly how I feel. I understand how frustrating it is, especially when it happens in public because people make so many assumptions. Thanks for the kind words ❤️

I have, but doctors don’t suspect it. I find my brain fog correlates to episodes of bad circulation/low blood volume, in that it gets worse whenever my blood volume or circulation is low/bad. How did they diagnose you with MCAS and is it easily treatable? Thanks

It really is. I’m aware of every mistake I’m making but it’s like trying to move my fingers rapidly when they’re too cold, I can’t stop it. Thanks for telling me about the ME community, I’ll check it out!
