I would just point out that you still need to buy things under socialism, and prob communism at that. Shops still exist in Communist countries.
The main difference is the level of choice one gets, and that it’s likely not sold just for the sake of it, but because people actually need it.

But god, it’s hard to set those boundaries so many times… Compromising on pay is one option, but it is certainly not great. Having said so, priorities did change when we had the kids.

You’re reusing the heat to warm the house normally. Obv, you don’t always want that, so you may opt to limit using the oven in summer for example, as it is the one which runs the longest.
